Cillian Murphy’s ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie Just Got One Step Closer to Our Screens

The Peaky Blinders movie in the works at Netflix just got a major update from creator Steven Knight. Titled The Immortal Man, the Peaky Blinders movie wrapped filming near the end of last year, but updates on the film have been few and far between in recent months, until now. Plot specifics on The Immortal Man are being kept under wraps, but it’s reported to follow Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) as he comes back home to Birmingham and finds himself in the middle of a dangerous wartime mission. Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth will also star.

Speaking with Screen Rant to promote his new project, House of Guinness, Knight was asked if there was anything new he could share about the Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man. While he didn’t drop anything major, he did confirm that “There’ll be an announcement relatively soon, and I can tell you that it’s really, really brilliant.” This is the best news Peaky Blinders fans have had in a while. It’s still unclear when the film is going to be released, but its most likely window lies sometime in 2026. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Fans are also optimistic that they will have a chance to watch The Immortal Man in theaters, not just on Netflix. The streamer is testing the waters in this method by giving movies like A House of Dynamite a limited theatrical release ahead of its global Netflix debut. Joel Edgerton’s Train Dreams will also follow the same model. As popular as Peaky Blinders is, there’s no reason it shouldn’t play in theaters for a few weeks before it begins streaming.

Is ‘House of Guinness’ Like ‘Peaky Blinders’?

House of Guinness is already drawing comparisons to Peaky Blinders, even if the shows aren’t all that similar at the core. Both are written and created by Steven Knight, and both are period dramas that incorporate elements of organized crime; however, the similarities end there. House of Guinness, which is now streaming on Netflix, stars Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, and James Norton, and it’s set in the wake of the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness as his children work with other Dubliners to expand his empire. Knight is also working on the script for the next James Bond movie, which will begin casting soon.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of The Immortal Man, and watch all seasons of Peaky Blinders on Netflix.
