After only one full weekend and a day at the box office, Colleen Hoover’s new adaptation has already surpassed the U.S. total of a beloved Daniel Craig classic. After a successful first Monday that saw Regretting You add another $1.4 million to its domestic total, the film now sits at $15.1 million at the U.S. box office and $9.9 million internationally for a $25.1 million cumulative total. This $15.1 million is enough to push Regretting You past Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Daniel Craig’s Knives Out sequel that grossed $15 million during a limited run.
Regretting You has also already outgrossed the entire domestic run of Will Smith’s 2021 Oscar-winner, King Richard. The tennis biopic grossed $15.1 million at the global box office, but it will always be remembered as the conduit for Smith’s infamous Oscars slap. In the coming days, Regretting You will also look to overtake The Greatest Game Ever Played, the 2005 golf biopic starring Shia LaBeouf. The film was reportedly produced for around $30 million, meaning it needs another $35 million to break even at the global box office, according to the general rule of thumb.
Josh Boone directed Regretting You with a script from Susan McMartin, and it’s based on the popular Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. The film stars Allison Williams as Morgan Grant, Mckenna Grace as Clara Grant, Dave Franco as Jonah Sullivan, Mason Thames as Miller Adams, Scott Eastwood as Chris Grant, Willa Fitzgerald as Jenny Davidson, and Clancy Brown as Hank Adams Sr. The film is already being compared to It Ends With Us, which is hard to dispute considering they both come from popular Colleen Hoover novels.
Is ‘Regretting You’ on Streaming?
At the time of writing, Regretting You is not currently available on streaming and can only be watched in theaters. This will likely be the case for at least a few weeks before the film goes up for rent or purchase on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Fandango at Home. The film is being distributed by Paramount Pictures in the United States, meaning that when it does begin streaming, it will likely be on Paramount+. This is expected to be at least a few months, though, considering it just arrived in theaters this weekend.
