Unless you got your hands on Demon’s Souls way back in 2009, it’s most likely that Dark Souls 1 was your first introduction into the twisted worlds of Hidetaka Miyazaki. The game helped spread the rather toxic phrase ‘git gud’ and set the bar for how difficult games could be while still pulling players back in for just one more go. Dark Souls’ difficulty humbled many a player on their journey to Lordran.
One player, though, recently decided to take the ‘hold my beer’ approach to Dark Souls and upped the ante. ZeldaSouls showed off their prowess on YouTube with a no hits, no levels completion of Dark Souls 1. To some, that may sound easy, but additional restrictions applied to the run that would leave most Souls players weak at the knees. Praise the sun, they pulled it off!
A Dark Souls Fan Just Pulled Off An Impossible Feat
For I Am A Lord And This Is My Throne
When you consider the self-imposed obstacles ZeldaSouls put in place, the achievement is actually quite staggering. Here is the list of other restrictions they appied to their winning run through Dark Souls 1 Remastered:
• No use of any ranged weapons (bows, crossbows, etc)
• No use of ranged consumables (firebombs, lloyd’s talismans)
• No magic, no pyromancies, sorceries, or miracles.
• No rolls, jump rolls, or back steps allowed.
• No quit outs to deaggro enemies or reset position after a fall.
• All 26 bosses defeated.
• No hits, staggers, or deaths allowed.
While we wait for new Dark Souls stories to arrive this May, learning new ways to play is always a fun way to pass some time. Sure, others have completed Elden Ring on a dance mat, but the crown for hardest feat ever may go to ZeldaSouls.
Dark Souls Players Are Full Of Surprises
We Are Amidst Strange Beings, In A Strange Land
It’s always important to never underestimate fans of the Dark Souls series and their commitment to mastering these legendary games. From playing the game with the screen inverted to converting an old Guitar Hero guitar into a working controller, the level of obsession knows no bounds. Thanks to updates and even a recent unofficial Dark Souls remaster, there’s plenty of reason to keep returning to this stellar RPG series. Think you could beat Dark Souls with only one finger? Sorry mate…it’s already been done!
From speedrunners to absolute fanatics, the Dark Souls community seems to never die. It only seems to take the ember of an idea to spark the bonfire again and breathe new life into the franchise. Games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne have seen new life and exclusive content to constantly keep fans coming back for more. Now where did I put my Wii nun-chuck controller and my replica Nier Automata cloth visor? I’ve got a killer idea for my next Dark Souls run.
