When the flagship series The Walking Dead ended back in 2022, it had been running for 11 seasons and was on air for 12 years. At the time, we had spin-off shows set in the same universe prior to the show’s ending, namely Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Now, though, we have multiple spin-offs centered on some of our favorite characters fighting through the zombie apocalypse. One is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The show, which was originally conceived as a Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) spin-off, has taken quite a journey to get these two characters back together. Now, we have a Season 3 release date!
At the end of Season 2, fans didn’t know where Daryl and Carol were headed but in a new teaser trailer for the season, we get to see that Daryl and Carol have found themselves in Spain after sending Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) and Ash (Manish Dayal) to America after the death of Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) in Season 2. Now, Carol and Daryl will meet a new group of survivors in Spain! The new cast includes Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay. Other cast members for Season 3 include Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, Cuco Usín, and Stephen Merchant. And you can see them all in action when The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns on September 7.
The entire season was filmed in Spain and, according to the press release, “will follow Daryl (Reedus) and Carol (McBride) as they continue their journey to somehow return home and to the ones they love. As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.”
The Walking Dead Universe Continues
The news about Daryl Dixon‘s release date comes as The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 comes to an end. It is one of three spin-off series that spawned from the flagship show after its conclusion. Dead City follows Maggie (Lauren Conrad) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) taking on a post-apocalyptic New York City. We also had The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which brought back Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The world is continuing to expand, and with Carol and Daryl in Spain, we’ll see how another country is dealing with the walkers when the show returns on September 7!
