There is good news to report about David Fincher and Netflix’s Cliff Booth movie.
As revealed by Jarred Land in an Instagram posting, the Quentin Tarantino-penned film reportedly titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth wrapped filming on Thursday, January 15, bringing the highly-anticipated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood follow-up another step closer to completion.
“Final day of shooting Fincher and Tarantino’s new film today [at RSH Studios],” Land posted, along with an image of an autographed slate bearing the names of the film’s director, cinematographer, and writer.
“It’s been such an honor to have such an incredible team living and breathing at our studio for the better part of the last year,” Land continued. “Been a masterclass in absolutely everything. [Cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt] had some fun with this one. Gonna be a good one.”
The Adventures of Cliff Booth does not yet have a release date, but it’s expected to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film sees Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star Brad Pitt returning as stuntman Booth, alongside Timothy Olyphant as James Stacy. Leonardo DiCaprio is not on-board to return after reportedly declining the chance to cameo.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and Peter Weller, all in undisclosed roles.
Tarantino first discussed revisiting the Cliff Booth character shortly after the release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, teasing his desire to explore Booth’s time in a WW2 POW camp.
The Pulp Fiction writer-director later penned a script set in the 1970s which reportedly covers Booth’s time as a Hollywood fixer, but declined to direct the film himself, citing his reluctance to repeat himself.
Pitt later recruited Fincher to direct the film, using Tarantino’s script, with Netflix producing. The film’s reported budget is around $200 million, making it the most expensive movie of Fincher’s career.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth went before cameras last summer, and leaked photos showed Pitt filming scenes wearing attire similar to what he sported in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Set video leaked in September revealed a connection between the film and Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, as Pitt’s Booth is seen visiting a Big Kahuna establishment, marking him as a fan of the same burgers enjoyed by Samuel L. Jackson’s Jules Winnfield.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth is set to be released in select theaters alongside its Netflix premiere.
