FBI Star Addresses Chances Of Crossover With Tom Ellis-Led CIA

FBI actor Jeremy Sisto reveals the possibility of his character appearing in the series spinoff show, CIA, starring Tom Ellis.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s Tatiana Hullender, Sisto explains that there are currently no plans for his character, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Jubal Valentine, to appear in CIA. However, if they ever offered him a role on the show, he would definitely be interested in taking it. He added that CIA will have a very different tone than FBI. According to the actor, the series has the potential to broaden the franchise and take it in a completely different direction.

I hope to be a part of that show, yeah. What’s fun about it is that it’s the same universe, but it’s a very different show. We have different creators over there, with different intentions as to what tone they’re going for. It’s an opportunity to expand, for sure.

Sisto spoke about his experience as a crossover character within the FBI universe. His character has made appearances in FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted. The actor said that he has loved playing his character over the last 8 years. He explained how exciting it was to be able to venture into new shows in the FBI universe and that it was comforting to be able to return to the flagship show once those cameos were over.

I’ve been doing the show for 8 years, and I love it, but it’s nice to have a little diversity of tone. This one’s going to be a great show, and we’re all excited about it. It’s bringing that energy of being a new thing, which I’m glad is not where we are anymore, because it’s a little bit stressful making sure it’s exactly what you want it to be. But it’s also exciting to be a part of it, which is nice. [A crossover] would be the perfect way to be a part of it, because you’ve got your own show to go back to.

FBI’s upcoming spinoff, CIA, will follow the lives of a rule-bending CIA case officer (Ellis) and a strict FBI agent (Nick Gehlfuss). The unlikely duo team up to protect the country from terrorists and other major threats and occasionally butt heads due to their drastically different personalities. The series also features Natalee Linez, who will portray an analyst named Gina Rojas.

Necar Zadegan will replace Michael Michele as the Chief of the CIA’s New York Station. Michele abruptly pulled out of the show in November 2025 for unspecified reasons. Her departure coincided with several other production changes. Reports of the original showrunner, Warren Leight, backing out surfaced just five days after the actor left.

FBI’s midseason finale will air on December 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM ET and 5:00 PM PT on CBS.
