Former 'Scream' Directors' New Horror Sequel Shatters Viewership Records With Recent Trailer Debut

Audiences are evidently very eager to play another deadly game with Radio Silence. A new report confirms that Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, the sequel to Matt Bettinelli-Olpen and Tyler Gillett‘s 2019 cult favorite horror comedy, has taken the title for biggest trailer launch in Searchlight’s history. Within its first 24 hours online, it soared to over 68 million views, easily surpassing the banner’s previous first-day record holder, last year’s A Complete Unknown at 48 million. Reactions to the return of Samara Weaving‘s resilient final girl, Grace MacCaullay, have been largely enthusiastic too, boding well for when the violence begins again on April 10, 2026.

Ready or Not 2‘s success online was carried largely by viewers on TikTok. Nearly half of the views the trailer received (33 million) came from the short-form video platform, with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube the next biggest contributors. Not only was it the strongest launch ever for the banner behind Slumdog Millionaire, The Shape of Water, and Black Swan, but it also became Searchlight’s third-best organic opening ever. A big reason to get excited has been the cast, which sees Weaving team up with fellow scream queen and Radio Silence alum, Kathryn Newton, as Grace’s younger sister, Faith. Buffy the Vampire Slayer icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Pitt breakout Emmy winner Shawn Hatosy, and body horror-directing legend David Cronenberg also star as the members of the murderous Danforth family, with Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, and Elijah Wood rounding out the bunch.

Penned once more by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, the sequel picks up mere moments after Grace exited the burning house of the Le Domas family, covered in blood. Though she survived hide and seek and saw the rich clan she married into burst into explosions of gore, she triggered a new game with much more at stake. Now, there are four powerful families, each competing to kill her and take control of everything — literally everything. If she refuses, her sister will be killed instead, forcing Grace to try and survive until dawn once again so they can both make it out alive.

Radio Silence Has Another Exciting Project on the Horizon

After Ready or Not 2, Radio Silence is staying active with one of their buzziest projects to date — a new sequel to The Mummy that reunites the sizzling couple of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, at long last, as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. It’s believed to be a sequel to the first two films of the classic adventure series, ignoring the events of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, where Maria Bello took Weisz’s place as Evelyn. Little else is known about the directors’ take on the classic at this time, though they have plenty of experience putting a modern, fun spin on Universal monsters after helming 2024’s Abigail.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come releases in theaters on April 10, 2026. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on Radio Silence’s much-anticipated sequel ahead of its arrival.
