After earning high praise and adoration as the stars of Home Town, Ben and Erin Napier were able to bring their Laurel charm to three towns as they took over to spruce up the entire place. With the flagship program focusing solely on a single home per episode, Home Town Takeover takes the concept and magnifies it. Which means everything attached is grander. The stakes are higher, and you’d never even know it while you’re watching them.
With their wonderful outlook and easy-going attitude, they make it seem like there’s no sweat off their back as they completely revitalize a town. Sure, they have the help of their HGTV friends when they have to temporarily depart, but the endeavor they embark on is massive. And yet, they do it with a smile and a large heart. Perhaps the grander scale aids in the claim, but Home Town Takeover allows the Napiers to shine even brighter than they do on their original series.
Ben and Erin Napier Have Used Their Skills To Help Others
Home Town, the smash hit HGTV series is a celebration of Laurel, Mississippi. Since 2016, the Napiers have helped to revitalize their town thanks to their impressive skills and devotion to helping bring individuals to love Laurel as much as they do. On the other hand, Home Town Takeover is a celebration of Ben and Erin Napier and their boundless imagination. They’re taking the love they have for Laurel and helping a singular town experience that same spark. What sets Home Town Takeover apart from Home Town is how expansive the task is and the weight it puts on the Napiers’ shoulders. They’re not going back to their lovely home after a hard day’s work in Laurel. They are staying put in Wetumpka, Alabama, Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Sebring, Florida, to do the hard work. They always have the ability to give back, but the motive isn’t to make their hometown better. They’re doing it for someone else.
Through three seasons, Ben and Erin have literally put these small towns on the map, just as they did for Laurel. The power of their HGTV celebrity is surely a factor, but their hard work and dedication have carried through during each project. When they selected Wetumpka, it was an Alabama town ravaged by a tornado. But the Napiers swooped in and saved the day. They created a streetscape for Company Street in downtown. They revitalized the infamous Big Fish house. And ultimately, they made the town a tourist destination. Wetumpka has since opened a visitor’s center, where more than 5,000 new friends entered their names in the visitor’s log in just 10 months. For season 2, they journeyed to Fort Morgan, a Colorado town that has experienced a similar boom of success. With new businesses coming in, new life has come into this tiny hamlet. As seen through the reviews of some of the places featured on the show, people have been going out of their way to check out the finished product.

‘Home Town Takeover’ Gives the Napiers a Full Arc
As Season 3 has shown, the spectacle is in the sense of community that is built around bringing the beautiful Florida town back to life. With the focus on the Sebring Circle, which resulted in businesses coming in to fill every building, and some of the most incredible community members, the Napiers are all in, willing to risk it all to make Sebring better. And they do it with their giant hearts. No one has hearts quite like theirs on HGTV. Even as HGTV superstars, the Napiers refuse to show the egos that they could. It’s not in their blood. They use their celebrity for good. At the end of the day, this project is a selfless act that defines their character.
Home Town Takeover has the opportunity to give the Napiers a full arc over the course of a season, rather than be contained in a singular episode. Over the course of the six episodes, we are taken on an emotional journey with the Napiers. They meet the people who live in the town, learn the history, and start their magic. It’s easy to say you won’t get attached, but Ben and Erin do. They see the pure emotion in the individuals they’re helping. On the flagship show, they’re not there to help people in need in the same respect as they do on Home Town Takeover. By sticking with the characters from start to finish, you can understand why Ben and Erin say they don’t want to leave when the takeover is officially over.
Watching the couple transform the town over the course of six episodes, they become so ingrained in the community that it’s an incredibly emotional experience. What they accomplished in Wetumpka and Fort Morgan set the stage for what the Napiers can do in the future. What they achieved in Sebring is incredible. It makes us all want to visit the Circle and support the community. And it’s all thanks to Ben and Erin Napier. These projects may take a toll on the design duo, but what’s clear is that it’s all worth it in the end.
