Invisible frames in Minecraft are primarily used for decorating interiors with items, armor, weapons, or other resources that you want to display in your abode. The purpose of these frames is to make items look seamlessly integrated on walls without having the need to use the Item Frame or any other support. While using Invisible Item frames is not as straightforward, there is a workaround for players looking to bypass using the official Item Frame.

Since using Invisible Item frames requires modding, it is slightly easier to use them in Minecraft’s Java edition, i.e., on PC/Mac. Unfortunately, for players playing on consoles or the Bedrock edition, invisible item frames cannot be deployed since they are only available for the Java version.

To start using Invisible Item Frames, open the command menu or the chat window to input some code. It is also worth pointing out that these codes will only work on Minecraft version 1.16 or later. Enter this code exactly how it is displayed:

/give @s item_frame{EntityTag:{Invisible:1}}.

Now, you must choose who you wish to give the invisible frame to. This is where the specific invisible item frame command codes will come into play.

Command Code

Result

@a

The invisible frame will be given to all players on the server.

@e

The invisible frame will be given to all entities on the server.

@p

The invisible frame will be given to the nearest player.

@r

The invisible frame will be given to a random player.

After selecting one of these options, the invisible frame should appear in the targeted player’s inventory.

For Bedrock players, you will need to use mods to get the item frames in Minecraft. You can also use armor stands and a command block to make normal item frames invisible. Installing certain mods will replace the normal frame item with the invisible frame item. It doesn’t do anything besides changing the look of the item.

Fortunately, there are tons of different places to learn how to install Minecraft mods. The invisible frame mod shouldn’t be too demanding to install and works well to help creators build their own custom wall layouts. Players can check out one popular invisible item frame mod, called Invisibile Item Frames, on CurseForge
