How To Get Mega Tatsugiri In Pokémon Legends Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension has some wild Mega Evolutions that old fans are sure to enjoy. While some Pokémon aren’t quite “retro” (take Tatsugiri, for instance, who is a relative newcomer), it’s been a blast to see their new forms all the same.

Some of these Mega Evolutions take the form of a Rogue Mega, which operate a lot like boss battles in the core game. Thankfully, you’ll have the help of your NPC friends to take those down.

Where To Find Tatsugirinite

It’s Part Of A Story Mission

After starting the DLC and progressing the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC story to Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3, you’ll be tasked by NPCs to earn enough research points to eventually unlock the new Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena, where the Tatsugirinite (and Mega Tatsugiri) are located.

You can find them just north of the center of the map, in a Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena portal. This Rogue Mega Evolution battle will serve as the bookend for the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3 Mission. After defeating it, you’ll unlock the Tatsugirinite as a battle reward, as well as Amazing Butter, which allows you to make stronger donuts.

Where To Find Tatsugiri

It’s A Reward From The Battle

After taking on Mega Tatsugiri, you’ll capture it right after the battle for free. Strap in, though, because you’ll need to have a few powerful Pokémon to take it on.

Mega Tatsugiri is weak to:

Mega Tatsugiri is resistant to:

  • Steel type
  • Fire type
  • Water type

Although it’s level 140, this time in the story, you’ll have unlocked higher-quality butter, which can be used to boost your Pokémon up to higher levels while in Hyperspace portals. In this particular instance, I whipped up a batch that boosted my level 100 Pokémon to level 136, just enough to take on this Rogue Mega Evolution. You’ll also have the help of your NPC teammates, as is customary with these bigger boss battles.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension has a lot of surprises, but if you keep going with the story, you’ll eventually unlock the portals you need to uncover all the game’s Mega Evolutions. Just remember to go into these bigger battles with good donuts. Don’t be put off by the sticker shock of a level 140 Pokémon, because you can bite back that much better.
