Kathleen Kennedy’s tenure as the boss of Star Wars has come to an end after 14 years, and the former Lucasfilm exec is opening up about her decision to leave.

After reports earlier this month that she would be leaving, Lucasfilm has now officially announced Kathleen Kennedy is departing as President of the studio, with Dave Filoni taking over as President and Chief Creative Officer, while Lynwen Brennan will serve as Co-President. Kennedy also offered a statement explaining her departure, reflecting on taking over the company from George Lucas as he sought to retire and calling it “a true privilege” to have guided the Star Wars and Indiana Jones studio for 14 years. See her statement below:

It has been a true privilege to spend more than a decade working alongside the extraordinary talent at Lucasfilm. Their creativity and dedication have been an inspiration, and I’m deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together. I’m excited to continue developing films and television with both longtime collaborators and fresh voices who represent the future of storytelling.
