Kim Zolciak first shocked audiences in the premiere season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kim had decided to become a professional singer, a choice many fledgling Housewives have chosen to make over the years, often with questionable results. Yet, Kim was lucky to have Kandi Burruss in her cast, who rose to prominence in the girl-group Xscape and co-wrote the TLC song “No Scrubs.” However, the cast mates fell out over the production and distribution of the single “Tardy for the Party,” which Kandi wrote for Kim and alleged she was not properly compensated for. The pair’s friendship never recovered, and a trend of Kim mishandling her relationships, especially when money is involved, began.
Kim and her husband, Kroy Biermann, moved on from RHOA to their own reality series, Don’t Be Tardy for the Party. The series showed the couple’s wedding preparations, and shared their daily lives for eight seasons. The show offered a new platform not only to Kim, but also to her growing family. Kim’s daughter, Ariana Biermann, who Kroy adopted in 2013, built a following as an online influencer, and is now stepping into the role of reality star on Next Gen NYC. What Ariana’s first episodes on the new series have made crystal clear, is that her mother hasn’t learned her lesson when it comes to mishandling money and relationships. It is shocking that, at this point, Kim hasn’t changed.
Kim Zolciak Keeps Making the Same Mistakes
Kim and Kroy married in 2011, and Kim filed for divorce in 2023. Even prior to the divorce, the couple’s financial issues were starting to become apparent. One major point of contention in the couple’s divorce was their lavish Georgia mansion. The home was placed in foreclosure after the pair defaulted on a $1.65 million loan, and was placed up for auction in December 2024, before the estranged couple supposedly took “action to clear this up,” according to a source speaking to People. The home was first placed on the market by the couple in October 2023 for $6 million, but after multiple price cuts and threats of foreclosure, the home sold for $2.75 million in January 2025.
With the ongoing financial strain on the household, Kim and Kroy have clearly been struggling to maintain their lifestyle. And according to documents obtained by People, although the couple sold their home earlier this year, they were not prepared to leave. In April 2025, the reality star and her husband were “ejected” from the home and marshals were “commanded” to remove the family and turn the property over to the new owners. On the same day the couple were ejected from the home, Kim was attempting to sell the household items online, including the custom furniture set in Ariana’s childhood bedroom.

Kim’s Bad Behavior Started Early on ‘RHOA’
Kim’s bad habits with money and relationships started early. The way she handled her friendship with Kandi on RHOA was just the tipping point. When it comes to handling finances in her personal relationships, her careless attitude has been consistently demonstrated. Especially considering the reality star seems to have a champagne lifestyle, with no budget whatsoever. She looked to welathy men to provide and upkeep her lifestyle without having a plan on her own.
And it’s clear from the way Ariana speaks about her mom on Next Gen NYC, this habit has been a consistent problem. In a confessional interview, Ariana spoke about being on TV since she was 5 years old, and how that led to outrageous brand deals once she became an influencer at the age of 14. In a heartbreaking moment, Ariana admitted that she hadn’t seen any compensation for her work as a child, since her parents “took” her money amid their contentious divorce. Despite the family’s financial strain, Ariana also told her boyfriend on camera that she had seen her mother drinking an expensive $200 bottle of wine on Instagram.
The fledgling reality star also admitted that she continues to send her mother money, because she is still raising four children, and she doesn’t want money “to destroy my relationship with my family.” It seems Ariana has learned a hard lesson about her mother’s finances, one that Kim should really learn herself. In all her years, Kim never seems to have comprehended that living outside her means on someone else’s dollar is a recipe to ruin relationships.
