Given how the Prime Video detective series has performed incredibly well both critically and commercially for three seasons straight, it is hard not to expect big things from it in the near future.

In a recent interview (via RNZ), author Lee Child revealed that while his brother, Andrew Child, is now writing the Jack Reacher books, he is working on something entirely new. Calling writing “a habit” and something he has “structured his life around,” the author stated that he is not going to “tell anybody what it is right now.“
However, when he was asked if his new book had something to do with Jack Reacher, he subtly hinted, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think we would say that…“ Although he remained tight-lipped and refused to say anything else about the project, its potential Jack Reacher connection makes it all the more intriguing.
Considering how Lee Child barely revealed anything, the upcoming book could be a spinoff, a prequel, a crossover story, or something else entirely that expands the Reacher franchise in the most unexpected ways. Regardless of what it will turn out to be, its hinted relationship with Reacher already makes it incredibly exciting.

Even if Lee Child’s next book does not directly tie into the Reacher universe, his statement suggests that it might fall into the same brand of action thriller storytelling. Since the author did a brilliant job of bringing his own spin on the crime thriller genre by merging it with the classic “overpowered mysterious stranger” trope, it is hard not to be curious about what he will bring to the table with his next book.
