The X-Men will soon return to the big screen, and their designs for Avengers: Doomsday are exactly what Marvel Cinematic Universe fans hoped for. Ever since the mutants were announced to join the cast of the next Avengers movie, expectations have been sky-high for how Marvel Studios would bring them to life. After all, previous Marvel projects did right by the X-Men.
Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the MCU’s most exciting movies, and the animated X-Men ’97 included several mutants, bringing some of their most iconic suits to life and allowing a full roster of characters to shine. In the live-action Fox X-Men movies, Wolverine ended up overshadowing the rest of the mutants. Now, Avengers: Doomsday focuses on the wider cast.
Marvel Has Revealed What Avengers: Doomsday’s X-Men Look Like
The third Avengers: Doomsday teaser is now playing in theaters ahead of showings of Disney’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. The 2026 MCU movie trailer is focused on the X-Men, revealing a destroyed X-Mansion and giving fans the first look at three major characters: Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, and James Marsden’s Cyclops.
The new Avengers: Doomsday X-Men trailer shows what appears to be the aftermath of the X-Men’s battle with the Sentinels, as one can be seen walking behind Cyclops amid the destruction. That shot reveals the X-Men suit fans had been waiting to see for as long as Hugh Jackman’s yellow and blue Wolverine costume. Cyclops wears his classic Marvel Comics suit.
The design includes his visor, blue bodysuit with a large yellow “X” strap, and no yellow trunks, just blue pants. As for Charles Xavier, he wears a blue/green jacket with a red and black X-Men symbol. Magneto has a comics-accurate design, with a red suit and purple cape.
How Avengers: Doomsday’s X-Men Suits Compare To Fox’s X-Men Movies?
The X-Men suits in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday trailer are far more vibrant and comics-accurate than what the trio of mutants wore in Fox’s X-Men movies. It has been a long road since Marsden’s Cyclops joked about the team wearing yellow spandex instead of black leather to now, where Scott Summers will finally don his Marvel Comics suit 26 years later.
The X-Men will follow the lead of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who returned two years before the rest of the team. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Logan and his multiverse variants wore several comics-accurate looks. After making X-Men ’97, Marvel Studios knows that the X-Men can work in a faithful adaptation, and Avengers: Doomsday seems to be just that.
