Castle Rock season 2

Netflix loves to hype up its originals, and to be fair, it’s pumped out its share of monster hits. But let’s be real. Another primary reason people stay glued to the platform is because Netflix keeps snagging great content from everywhere else.

And now, the streaming giant is gearing up to do it again by adding a mind-bending Hulu series to its lineup this December. On Nov. 19, Netflix released its full list of new shows and movies set to arrive on its platform next month, and the short-lived series, Castle Rock, was included.

Castle Rock is scheduled to come to Netflix in December 2025

You’re probably wondering how a Hulu show is ending up on Netflix, but it turns out the deal wasn’t made with Hulu at all. Instead, Netflix has licensed the series from Warner Bros. Television, the company that actually owns the rights to the show. On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, the complete Castle Rock series will be available to stream on Netflix.

This means both seasons 1 and 2, each consisting of 10 episodes, will be ready for binge-watching, giving fans and newcomers alike the chance to dive into the show’s dark, suspenseful universe from beginning to end. However, it’s unclear whether the show will still be available to watch on Hulu once it lands on Netflix.

Castle Rock comes from Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason. It’s a supernatural horror series that’s set in the eerie, fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, a location steeped in the unsettling lore of Stephen King’s universe. It’s not like your typical show in that each season tells a largely self-contained story with new characters and mysteries, while still weaving in connections to the town’s dark history and familiar King-inspired elements.

The first season stars André Holland as Henry Deaver, a death-row attorney who returns to his hometown of Castle Rock after a mysterious inmate is discovered in the local Shawshank prison. Alongside him, Melanie Lynskey plays Molly Strand, a woman with telepathic and empathic abilities.

Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of The Kid, the mysterious young man found in Shawshank Prison. Then, there’s Sissy Spacek as Ruth Deaver, Henry’s estranged adoptive mother, whose complicated past and connection to the town’s dark history slowly unravel as the season progresses.

When it comes to Castle Rock season 2, the series shifts its focus to a new character named Annie Wilkes, a fan-favorite Stephen King character from Misery. The season begins with Annie and her daughter Joy on the run, traveling across the country while Annie struggles with her own mental health and past traumas.

A car accident temporarily strands them in Castle Rock, setting off a chain of events that forces Annie to assume a new identity and seek employment at a local hospital. But things get even more complicated when she encounters the town’s mysterious residents. Lizzy Caplan stars in the leading role as Annie. Also in the season 2 main cast are Paul Sparks, Barkhad Abdi, Yusra Warsama, Elsie Fisher, Matthew Alan, and Tim Robbins.
