Now that we’re getting into the thick of 2026 with a month already in the rearview, we’re starting to learn that fates of the Netflix shows that premiered toward the end of 2025. The first renewal of the new year belonged to Emily in Paris season 6 while Boots and The Abandons were the first two Netflix canceled. Thankfully, we have another exciting renewal to celebrate!
Admittedly, this particular renewal wasn’t one that we saw coming, and the Netflix original comedy series was even included on our list of Netflix shows in danger of being canceled in 2026. Because its latest season underperformed and received less critical acclaim than its debut season, we wouldn’t have been shocked if A Man on the Inside got the axe. But Netflix just ordered season 3.
A Man on the Inside season 3 renewed at Netflix
Netflix announced the A Man on the Inside season 3 renewal on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, which came over two months after season 2 premiered on Nov. 20, 2025. The wait time for the renewal this time around was much longer. Following the season 1 release in November 2024, Netflix announced the season 2 renewal two weeks later. Being so, season 3 comes as a real surprise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the most recent season of A Man on the Inside showed a decent decline in ratings in comparison to the first season. While season 2 spent three weeks on the Nielsen streaming charts and gathered 1.67 billion viewing minutes during those three weeks, the publication notes that those figures are a decline of one week and 880 million minutes.
However, the season’s performance was clearly still a success in Netflix’s books for a comedy series that’s relatively inexpensive to produce. Comedy has a much smaller metric to hit usually than dramas and other genres. The streamer notes in its press release that season 2 ranked in the Global Top 10 for five weeks and raked in a cumulative 45M+ views from season 2’s release until the end of 2025.
Netflix didn’t provide any additional details about A Man on the Inside season 3, including whether the episodes would be ready for a release before the end of 2026 or who in the cast would be return. Obviously, we can expect Ted Danson to return in the titular role, while Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, and Stephen McKinley Henderson are expected to return.
A Man on the Inside season 2 ended with Charles unmasking the Wheeler College blackmailer and securing his official private investigator license. He’s ready to take on any cases that Julie throws his way in season 3! The second season also ended with romantic sparks between Julie and Didi, which will surely be one of the many returning threads coming up in season 3.
