Netflix Confirms Season 4 Return of Hit 98% RT Crime Thriller

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Netflix’s hit French thriller series, Lupin, had been renewed for a fourth outing. This decision felt inevitable given the incredible success the first three seasons of the series have had, breaking cultural barriers and becoming a global phenomenon, with the first season even hitting just shy of 100 million views in its first 91 days. Now, we have finally learned via an announcement from Netflix that the fourth season, which began production back in May and is still ongoing, will debut in Fall 2026.

Omar Sy will once again reprise his lead role as Assane Diop, joined by the returning Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Antoine Gouy as Benjamin Ferel, Soufiane Guerrab as detective Youssef Guedira, and Shirine Boutella as lieutenant detective Sofia Belkacem. They will be joined by fresh faces in Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard. In a statement alongside the announcement, Sy said, “I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything. I find great joy in it every time.” The fourth season is set to pick up following Assane’s arrest following the stealing of the Black Pearl. The announcement continued:

“Inspired by the legendary Arsène Lupin, the Lupin saga constantly surprises with its plot twists and captivating characters, all set against the enchanting backdrop of Paris. The series is produced by Gaumont in collaboration with Carrousel Studios. Together with Netflix, Carrousel, and Gaumont, we’ve invested the time needed to raise our ambitions and deliver even more surprises and enjoyment, both for us and the audience. The fresh energy from Carroussel Studios aligns perfectly with this vision. I’m eager to share the new episodes with as many people as possible.”

‘Lupin’ Has Earned Near-Perfect Critical Reception

To achieve a near-perfect positive reception following an opening season is impressive enough, but it isn’t remotely unique. However, to maintain such standards after three seasons is certainly rare, but an achievement that can be attributed to Lupin. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the French series boasts a triumphant 98% rating from critics, boosted by a perfect 100% score earned by the most recent third season. From audiences, the series has so far earned a respectable 79%, with this, unsurprisingly, one of the highest-rated shows on Netflix.

The hit French thriller series Lupin will return for its fourth season in Fall 2026. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for the latest updates on all the biggest streaming shows.
