If one of the series that has been on your watchlist is White Collar, it’s time to start binging those episodes. Netflix is removing a slate of titles from its library in October, and all six seasons of the mystery-comedy series are not surviving the purge. The show is the one that made Matt Bomer (Doom Patrol, Magic Mike) a household name, and the seasons will be removed from Netflix on October 1.
In case you don’t know anything about the series, it centers around Neal Caffrey (Bomer), a con artist who is caught by the FBI and then hired as a consultant and criminal informant for the police. The series blends investigative themes with a dose of comedy, and the combination was more than enough for fans and critics to enjoy it ā the series has a near-perfect 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 93% audience score.
Back when the series was added to the Netflix catalog, the streamer invited Bomer to talk about the legacy of White Collar and the actor made a series of revelations, including the fact that he was surprised that no A-lister seemed to be interested in playing Neal Caffrey and that a real con artist was hired to teach Bomer some sleight-of-hand tricks and how to pick a lock ā just the usual everyday stuff. Bomer also admitted that he wanted the show to run longer than six seasons. You can check out his interview below.
Is a ‘White Collar’ Reboot Happening?
It’s been a while since the White Collar reboot has been announced, but at least for now, it looks like the project is still on the table. In 2024, Bomer hinted that there is a script and that it is “really intelligent.” Despite being labeled a reboot, it looks like the new show “picks back up where it left off in terms of the wit and the excitement and the relationships. Iām looking forward to it myself,ā as stated by series alum Sharif Atkins (ER).
Additionally, almost exactly a year ago, White Collar creator Jeff Eastin revealed that he was sending a script to the studio. So, if the project indeed moves forward, chances are that we will hear about it sooner rather than later. Bomer and Atkins also hinted that a new series would honor the memory of Willie Garson (Sex and the City) and Diahann Carroll (Grey’s Anatomy), who died after the series wrapped its run.
Netflix will remove all seasons of White Collar on October 1.
