At this point, getting attached to a Netflix show almost feels risky. You try not to fall too hard, you tell yourself not to get emotionally invested, and yet, somehow, it always happens. You hit play out of curiosity, and next thing you know, you’re deeply obsessed.
And then comes the dreaded moment. That renewal announcement you’ve been waiting for never arrives. Weeks turn into months, and before you know it, Netflix pulls the plug on one of your favorite shows. Fans of one particular underrated Netflix series are currently feeling that familiar sting, as the streamer has quietly brought the show to an end after three seasons.
Netflix has officially canceled Alice in Borderland

Sadly, this is true. On Jan. 20, Netflix released its engagement report for the second half of 2025 and shared that the third season of Alice in Borderland pulled in 25 million views. While this is great news, it’s how the streaming giant worded the report that made it clear the series would not be returning for a fourth season.
Netflix used the words “third and final season of Alice in Borderland,” officially confirming that the intense survival thriller has ended after three installments. This is new news to fans, as the streaming giant hadn’t made an announcement on the show’s fate until now. Even prior to the third season’s release, Netflix didn’t say anything about it being the final installment. Alice in Borderland season 3 was released on Netflix back in September 2025, which is about four months ago.
While it’s not unusual for the streamer to take a while to come to a renewal or cancellation decision, we had a feeling Alice in Borderland wouldn’t be getting the greenlight for another season. Why? Well, the main characters’ stories, Arisu’s and Usagi’s, were wrapped up at the end of season 3.
Sure, there was a hint at the end of the season that there could be a potential U.S. version of Alice in Borderland. But that would likely be an entirely new show if Netflix decided to move forward. So, an Alice in Borderland season 4 would not have been needed. If we’re being honest, the third season didn’t really need to happen either. The second season pretty much covered all of the source material, yet the creators and Netflix still decided to push forward with another installment.
Was the third season bad? No, but it just wasn’t as good as the first two. Fans would’ve been just fine without it, even with the tease of the Joker card at the end of season 2. It’ll be interesting to see if Netflix does decide to go through with an American version of this sci-fi thriller series.
In my own personal opinion, I don’t think it’s necessary. However, I could see Netflix ordering one anyway, especially given how popular survival-based thrillers continue to be on the platform. We’ll just have to wait and see.
