Netflix Reveals Its Most-Streamed Movies of All Time

Netflix has become the go-to destination for streaming movies, for better or worse, and the streaming giant has officially unveiled its most-watched movies of all time, with the results showing just how quickly a cultural phenomenon can rewrite the record books. According to Tudum, Netflix calculates its rankings based on total views within a film’s first 91 days of release. That makes the current champ all the more impressive: KPop Demon Hunters, which debuted in June, has only been out for just over two months — and it’s already the most popular Netflix original movie ever.

Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ animated musical stormed the charts with 236 million views and 393.3 million hours logged, surpassing even Netflix’s most star-studded blockbusters. The film’s popularity was so immense that it received a surprise limited theatrical release, where it topped the U.S. box office, and its official soundtrack climbed to #2 on the Billboard 200. The film’s success marks the first time an animated project has taken the top slot on Netflix’s all-time list. With more weeks left before its official 91-day cutoff, its dominance is only expected to grow.

What Are the Most Watched Movies on Netflix?

While KPop Demon Hunters leads the pack, the rest of Netflix’s Top 10 is filled with big-name stars and massive budgets:

  1. KPop Demon Hunters – 236 million views / 393.3 million hours
  2. Red Notice – 230.9 million views / 454.2 million hours

    • The $200 million action-comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds remains Netflix’s most expensive movie to date. A sequel is in development despite abysmal reviews.
  3. Carry-On – 172.1 million views / 344.1 million hours

    • Starring Taron Egerton as a blackmailed TSA agent, Jaume Collet-Serra’s throwback thriller was Netflix’s biggest first-week performer of 2024, and a new take on Die Hard.
  4. Don’t Look Up – 171.4 million views / 408.6 million hours

    • Adam McKay’s end-of-the-world satire with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
  5. The Adam Project – 157.6 million views / 281 million hours

    • Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy reunited for a time-traveling adventure that became one of 2022’s biggest Netflix hits.
  6. Bird Box – 157.4 million views
  7. Back in Action – 147.2 million views
  8. Leave the World Behind – 143.4 million views
  9. The Gray Man – 139.9 million views
  10. Damsel – 138 million views

Netflix shows no signs of slowing down. One of the streamer’s biggest upcoming tentpoles is The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel from Brad Pitt, Quentin Tarantino, and David Fincher. Also in the works are Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew and a long-awaited Gears of War adaptation.

All of Netflix’s most popular movies are available to stream right now.
