New 'Bridgerton' Season 4 Teaser Invites You to the Masquerade With 2 Release Dates

Dearest Gentle Readers, the time has come to mark your calendars for Bridgerton Season 4. The Netflix series, based on the books by Julia Quinn, returns January 29, with Part 1 and Part 2 premiering February 26. This fourth season will follow Quinn’s third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, which features Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as the Bridgerton falling in love. Opposite Thompson will be Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek.

With the release date comes a new teaser, narrated by Julie Andrews, reprising her voiced role of Lady Whistledown, along with new images that give fans a preview of the upcoming season. The inciting incident is, of course, the masquerade ball mentioned at the end of Season 3. There, just as in the books, is where Benedict will meet the Lady in Silver (Sophie behind a mask). When she leaves her glove behind, it sends Benedict on a journey of hoping, wishing, and praying to find her.

‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Will Be the Most Faithful Adaptation Yet

During the Season of Love event that gave fans their first real taste of the chemistry between Ha and Thompson, showrunner Jess Brownwell also chimed in on what fans can expect in Season 4. While each season of Bridgerton has carried the spirit of the other three books adapted, The Duke and I, The Viscount Who Loved Me, and Romancing Mister Bridgerton, Brownwell says that Season 4 will be the most faithful so far. Brownwell explained:

“It really lends itself to adaptation, just plot-wise. Yeah, I think it’s very similar. Of course, some smaller things have changed. Character motivation, especially Benedict’s, is quite different from the book, in that Luke Thompson brings this wonderful sensitivity and self-awareness to the character. In Benedict’s story of trying to woo Sophie, I think the character is a bit more delicate and thoughtful, perhaps, in the way he goes about it.”

And just because the plot will shift to focus on a new couple, that doesn’t mean others will be forgotten. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley are reprising their roles as the Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton. Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlin are also returning as Colin and Penelope Bridgerton. Others returning include Victor Alli, Adjoa Andoh, Masali Baduza, Hannah Dodd, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Claudia Jessie, Golda Rosheuvel, Will Tilston, and Polly Walker, among others.

Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1 premieres January 29. View the teaser above, as well as the new images and poster below. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
