Summary
- Nightwing and Tim Drake share a strong bond, seen in rare modern team-ups and captured wonderfully in this cosplay collaboration.
- Cosplayers @calebweekss and @raymondweijland, in collaboration with @resolute_creative, showcase a typical night for Tim Drake and Dick Grayson in Gotham City.
- Fans appreciate the wholesome dynamic between Nightwing and Tim, who are the main exemplars of the Robin legacy.
All the former and current Robins view one another as siblings, but Nightwing and the third Robin Tim Drake have one of the strongest bonds in the entire Bat-Family. Despite this, Nightwing and Tim don’t often get to share much page space in comics, which is why it’s perfect that two cosplayers took it upon themselves to bring the pair together in real life.
Cosplayers @calebweekss and @raymondweijland, in collaboration with @resolute_creative, showcase a typical night for Tim Drake and Dick Grayson in Gotham City. While the two don’t get to team up often anymore, this cosplay brings them to life and has them walking the streets of Gotham side by side. Each one shows off their unique personality and sense of style as they strike different poses, before teaming up for the camera together.
While their infrequent interactions are full of great moments – like Nightwing branding Tim Drake the best Robin – their lack of tension means they don’t get to spend as much time together as many fans would like. While there’s a lot of angst to explore in their separate relationships with Jason Todd’s Red Hood, Tim and Dick simply have each other’s backs without question.
Nightwing Admits Which Robin Actually Deserves to Become Batman
Of all the heroes that have worn the mantle of Robin, who deserves to be Batman? According to Nightwing, only one Boy Wonder is worthy of the title.
Nightwing & Tim Drake Showcase Their Bond as Titans
Cosplay by resolute_creative, calebweekss, and raymondweijland
Tim massively looks up to Nightwing and the two have a firm relationship based on mutual respect. This respect is so strong that, during the time Nightwing was Batman, Dick didn’t want Tim as his Robin, as he didn’t believe he had anything left to learn as a sidekick. At this point, Nightwing viewed Tim as his own man, fully capable of striking out on his own and creating a new identity, just like Nightwing had years prior. Likewise, Tim massively idolizes Dick and originally sought Dick out to help Batman before he decided to take up the mantle of Robin for himself.
The relationship between the Robins can be complex. Jason Todd had major issues with Tim for replacing him, while Damian Wayne initially saw the other Robins as competition for his father’s respect, coming close to killing Tim in combat and beginning a major feud. Likewise, Stephanie Brown often feels on the outside of the Robin legacy, especially because Batman weaponized her recruitment to get under Tim’s skin. However, that bad blood doesn’t exist between Tim and Dick. Tim is seen by many as the embodiment of the Robin ideal that Dick established, while Dick has always been there to help mentor and advise Tim in this role. The two also have extensive history with the Teen Titans, and in many ways, Tim is Dick’s successor both with that team and as Robin.
Nightwing and Tim Drake Show Off Their Moves
While drama is what drives story – especially in the case of superheroes – Bat-Family fans are always hungry to see the more wholesome meet-ups of Batman’s allies. While current comics are relatively spares on Tim/Dick appearances, this awesome cosplay shows the two brothers reveling in each other’s company, and shows why the low-conflict but still unique relationship between Nightwing and Tim Drake’s Robin remains such a fan-favorite pairing.
