News broke at the start of August that John Krasinski would step back into the director’s chair for A Quiet Place Part III, which was set for release on July 9, 2027. Just over two months later, the film has been hit with a minor delay, as it has been revealed that the fourth Quiet Place movie will now be released three weeks later, on July 30, 2027. If A Quiet Place Part III had kept its July 9 spot on the calendar, it would have gone head-to-head with James Gunn’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, but it now has three weeks of breathing room.
John Krasinski made his feature directorial debut on A Quiet Place in 2018, and he immediately established himself as one of the most formidable horror directors in Hollywood. The film was beloved by critics and audiences, earning scores of 96% from the former and 83% from the latter on the aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps more important, though, it grossed a whopping $340 million at the global box office against a $17 million budget, meaning it earned its production cost 20 times over. This makes it one of the biggest financial hits of all time.
The success of A Quiet Place immediately prompted Paramount Pictures to move forward with a sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, which recruited Cillian Murphy for a major role. The film also found financial and critical success. Krasinski passed directorial duties to Michael Sarnoski for A Quiet Place: Day One, the prequel film following the first day of the invasion. Jeff Nichols was previously attached to direct the Quiet Place prequel, but after clashing with Krasinski over creative differences, he left the project, which led to Sarnoski’s signing.
What Is ‘A Quiet Place Part III’ About?
Plot details about A Quiet Place Part III are being kept under wraps, as is the cast. Although Krasinski is writing and directing the film, it’s unclear if he’ll star and if other regulars such as Emily Blunt will be back. Sarnoski recruited Joseph Quinn (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) and Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) for roles in the Day One prequel, so their return in Part III is also possible. The film is expected to begin production sometime next year.
