While fans will still have to wait at least another year before the release of The Batman Part II, director Matt Reeves is confirming an addition to the behind the scenes crew, and it’s an Emmy-winner. Reeves is bringing on Emmy-winning Andor production designer Luke Hull for his The Batman sequel. The Star Wars Disney+ show earned praise for its real sets. And Hull’s work also landed him an Emmy for the limited series Chernobyl. With a finished script and now a production designer, Reeves looks to be locked and loaded to bring Gotham City back to life when production begins in January of next year.
Everything We Know About ‘The Batman Part II’
The Batman Part II is slated to release in 2027. It remains apart from James Gunn‘s main DCU. The script was finished earlier this year. In addition to Robert Pattinson returning as the Caped Crusader, Jeffrey Wright and Colin Farrell have also confirmed they are returning to Gotham City as Commissioner Jim Gordon and Oz Cobb, respectively. Farrell has most recently reprised his role as Oz Cobb in the Emmy-winning HBO Max drama The Penguin. While speaking with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff for his movie, The Ballad of a Small Player, Farrell teased his excitement about returning. “It’s less of ‘what can I do with this,’ and more just to be in that world and be around Robert and be around Jeffrey again, and be led by Matt Reeves. It’s something I’m really excited about again, just to be around it.” He says of the world:
“I love that world. I mean, I loved it as a fan of film since Batman ‘66. I grew up watching that, and Burgess Meredith was my first Penguin, and then Danny DeVito was my second Penguin. Then Chris Nolan‘s work, of course, was extraordinary in that universe. But to see how Matt [Reeves] has re-envisioned a world that’s unique enough and still honors the struggles of that city and the psychological struggles of the character of Bruce Wayne, and Batman, and who is the shadow of who — is Bruce Wayne the real guy, or is Batman? Just to be part of that world… Honestly, just to be in something that takes place in Gotham, where a character called Bruce Wayne and Batman exist, is such a joy for me.”
The Batman Part II will release in 2027. You can watch The Batman now on HBO Max. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
