These days, reboots are a dime a dozen. It seems like we really are living in our own Stab series, where the possibilities are endless and the franchise rules above all else. To be clear, we aren’t complaining (for the most part), thanks to the return of iconic classics like Scream, Top Gun, and Toy Story, but we’ll be the first to admit that we didn’t have a Scary Movie sequel on our bingo cards. And yet, as if handed down by some divine presence, Scary Movie 6 is on the way, with Regina Hall, Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, and more returning.
During a recent profile interview with Hall, who will next appear in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Collider’s Taylor Gates made some time for all the Scary Movie lovers out there and asked Hall about returning to the franchise that helped establish her career. While little is known about the movie’s plot and what the writers will spoof this time around, Hall’s comments will have fans excited to say “Wazz up?” all over again. Discussing the script for Scary Movie 6, Hall told Collider:
“That one I’ve read. It’s funny, and it’s great. I’m very excited to be working with Anna again, the Wayans again, and so many of the original cast members. It’s a big reunion for everyone.”
Where Will ‘Scary Movie 6’ Find Its Leading Players?
It’s been nearly two decades since Hall and Faris haunted us with laughter in their respective roles as Brenda and Cindy in Scary Movie 4, with the pair not returning in the fifth film that followed. In that time, we know the gals have undoubtedly led crazy lives, so where will things pick up for the pair? According to Hall:
“I know they can’t be anywhere good. Nobody’s trajectory looked that promising from that crew. I don’t think anyone’s changing the world, but who knows? Who knows? I’m excited for Scary Movie fans to see it. It’s been a very long time, but I’m excited to revisit Brenda. Wow. I’m like, ‘Brenda, what are we doing now? Where are you?’ One of the great things about Scary Movie is we all always had so much fun making them, so I’m really looking forward to the fun part and how much fun I think we’ll all have seeing each other again and getting the gang back together.”
With the film’s arrival less than one year away, slated for June 12, 2026, we won’t need to wait very long to find out what lies ahead for Brenda and the gang — but we’re here to say that seeing Brenda and Cindy do the Weapons run would absolutely heal us.
Stay tuned to Collider for more about Scary Movie 6 and don’t miss Gates’ full conversation with Hall!
