Seven years after Disney released the first Cars movie, Dreamworks brought out a racing film of its own, but instead of talking vehicles, it featured a talking snail. Turbo is a 2013 animated racing film that stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero, a snail who dreams of becoming a racer despite his limitations. Since its release, it has received a fair reception from fans and critics alike, and now it has sped its way to Netflix’s streaming charts.
Turbo has landed at #6 on Netflix’s Top 10 Kids Movies for November 3, 2025, in the United States, sitting between Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. This film follows Turbo, a garden snail who possesses super speed after getting sucked into the supercharger of a Chevrolet Camaro. From there, not only does he win a snail race, but he also gets invited to race in the Indy 500 alongside human race car drivers.
Turbo has a star-studded cast as it features Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion), Luis Guzman (Wednesday), Snoop Dogg, Maya Rudolph (The Good Place), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog), and Ken Jeong (Kpop Demon Hunters), to name a few Since its release, Turbo has generated over $282 million at the global box office, which is over half of what Cars earned during its theatrical release. Despite its 68% critics’ score and a 65% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was nominated for six Annie Awards.
Other Animated Roles Ryan Reynolds Has Starred In
While Reynolds is best known for his role as Deadpool in the Marvel franchise, he has appeared in various well-known projects, many of which are live-action. These include titles like The Adam Project, Free Guy, Green Lantern, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, just to name a few. However, the Primetime Emmy Award-winning actor has done some voiceover work in the past. One of his most notable roles was voicing Pikachu in Detective Pikachu in 2019. He also appeared in a few episodes of Family Guy, playing himself.
At the moment, there isn’t much news about Reynold’s next project. That said, there are reports and speculation that he could appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Additionally, it was reported that he’s working on another Deadpool project, featuring “three or four” mutants from the X-Men, but that project has yet to be pitched or approved.
