At this point, TV fans are no stranger to the adaptations of author Harlan Coben. The celebrated writer has long been pairing with streamers to turn his novels into intriguing series that are just as much of a page-turner themselves. Now, in the midst of a long-running deal with Netflix, Coben crossed over to Prime Video to collaborate with the platform for his latest on-screen project. Today, the streamer has unveiled the first look at the official trailer for their upcoming series, Harlan Coben’s Lazarus, which will see Sam Claflin (Daisy Jones & The Six) and Bill Nighy (Love Actually) in leading roles.
The debut trailer showcases yet another thrilling project to come from the desk of Coben, who co-penned the story alongside BAFTA-recipient Danny Brocklehurst. In it, we meet Joel Lazarus (Claflin) who receives the terribly tragic news that his father, Dr. Jonathan Lazarus (Nighy), has seemingly died by suicide. Racing home in hopes of putting his life back together and gaining a better understanding as to why his father took his own life, Joel stumbles upon something much darker along the way — something with roots that hook themselves to his past. The further he digs, the more he uncovers, and soon, Joel is caught up in a string of cold-case murders as he searches for the truth about not just his father’s pasting but also the murder of his sister that occurred when he was in his youth.
Filling out the call sheet alongside Claflin and Nighy is a lineup that also includes Alexandra Roach (No Offence), Karla Crome (Carnival Row), David Fynn (Daddy Issues) and Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead). In addition to starring, Claflin also serves as an executive producer alongside Coben, Brocklehurst, Quay Street Productions’ Nicola Shindler (Happy Valley) and Richard Fee (Fool Me Once).
What Else Does Harlan Coben Have On the Way?
Always one to have multiple irons in the fire, Lazarus isn’t the first, second, or third title to come from Coben this year alone, as it’s been preceded by Missing You, Just One Look and Caught, which each arrived on Netflix earlier in the year. Beyond Lazarus, a group of performers including Sam Worthington and Britt Lower will bring another title to life with the upcoming miniseries I Will Find You, while James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones will lead a cast further down the line in Run Away.
Check out the debut trailer for Lazarus above and watch all six episodes when they arrive on Wednesday, October 22.
