Scott Adkins Is No Ordinary ‘Prisoner of War’ in Thrilling New WWII Action Trailer [Exclusive]

It’s been a busy year so far for Scott Adkins after already starring in Day of Reckoning and Diablo, but now the next action thriller from the star just got an exciting new look. Collider is thrilled to partner with WellGO USA Entertainment to exclusively preview the first official trailer for Prisoner of War, the upcoming period action film that will be released in limited theaters and on VOD on September 19. This trailer helps kick off San Diego Comic-Con as part of the Kung-Fu Extravaganza panel. Louis Mandylor (Rambo: Last Blood) directed Prisoner of War with a script from Peter Shinkoda, Michael Copon, and star Scott Adkins. Shinkoda is known for his work on Marvel’s Daredevil, and Copon previously wrote episodes of One Tree Hill.

Scott Adkins stars in Prisoner of War as British SAS officer James Wright, a soldier captured by the Japanese and held during a Philippine POW Camp. Before the company is sent out on the Bataan Death March, Wright and his fellow prisoners are forced to compete in a brutal death match for nothing more than the amusement of their captors. With his back against the wall in the ultimate fight for his life, Adkins’ James Wright may be the only prisoner with the power and will to save everyone. One of Adkins’ most recent outings, Day of Reckoning, saw him team up with Billy Zane for a contemporary Western that recently began streaming on Tubi. Adkins also wrapped up 2024 by featuring alongside Dave Bautista in The Killer’s Game, the R-rated action thriller currently streaming on Starz. Terry Crews and Ben Kingsley can also be seen in The Killer’s Game.

Scott Adkins Is an MCU and John Wick Star

Scott Adkins recently made his John Wick debut in John Wick: Chapter 4, where he plays Killa. Unrecognizable in the film, Adkins plays the card-dealer in the club both John (Keanu Reeves) and Caine (Donnie Yen) go to, before a massive fight breaks out. He can also be seen as one of Kaecillius’ (Mads Mikkelsen) zealots, Lucian, in Doctor Strange, the 2016 MCU film that introduced Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme. He also gained notoriety recently for his role in Day Shift, the 2022 vampire movie starring Jamie Foxx.

Prisoner of War begins playing in select theaters and on VOD on September 19. Check out the new trailer above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
