Shadow and Bone, based on the popular Leigh Bardugo Grishaverse trilogy, made its debut back in April 2021 and was a huge hit with lovers of fantasy series. Shortly after its release, it was announced that the series would be returning for a second season, but if you were hoping for a release this month, then you’ll be disappointed to learn that Shadow and Bone season 2 is not coming to Netflix in October 2022!
In fact, following Netflix’s Tudum event on September 24, it seems that the show will not be returning to the streamer in 2022 at all…

Shadow and Bone season 2 release update
We’ve been waiting on the edge of our seats for an update on the release of Shadow and Bone season 2 ever since it was confirmed that the series wrapped up shooting the new episodes in June 2022.
Many predicted that the series would return by the end of 2022 (us included), but, following the streamer’s event — which included an exciting sneak peek at the second installment (which you can check out below) — it was revealed that Shadow and Bone season 2 will be coming in 2023.
But as for when exactly in 2023? We’re not quite sure, but we might be able to offer a guesstimation.
When could Shadow and Bone season 2 come to Netflix?
Typically, Netflix originals spend between six to eight months in post-production before their release, but in special cases, like this, post-production takes much longer. Given that the series wrapped filming in June 2022, we believe that the earliest Shadow and Bone season 2 could find its way back to our screen is in February 2023.
That said, post-production could take longer given the sheer amount of special effects needed to bring the Grishaverse to life, so take our prediction with a grain of salt. We’re sure that over the next few months more details will be released and we’ll be able to provide you with a more specific release date.
