Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Skeleton Crew episode 7.
Star Wars just kicked off its 20th anniversary year of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith with a horrifying moment in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew that is highly reminiscent of Revenge of the Sith’s most brutal scene. Skeleton Crew episode 7 just dropped on Disney+, marking the penultimate episode of this newest addition to Star Wars movies and TV shows. Episode 7 picked up with the kids in the same precarious situation they’ve been in since the end of Skeleton Crew episode 5—alone and trying to get home, now separated from Jod Na Nawood.
In episode 7, these circumstances became even more dire, as the kids were confronted by a horde of pirates, Jod among them. Although it seemed the kids had outsmarted the pirates and were headed to the safety of their home, At Attin, Jod had been hiding on their ship. In an incredibly dark moment, Jod told the children to follow his lead, or he would “carve up” their parents with his lightsaber. This threat didn’t end there, though. Skeleton Crew episode 7 ended with an image that was a direct callback to Revenge of the Sith’s most disturbing moment.

The Final Seconds Of Skeleton Crew Episode 7 Are Incredibly Ominous
At the very end of Skeleton Crew episode 7, Jod Na Nawood stood before the four children comprising the main Skeleton Crew characters and their parents, holding his blue lightsaber out. Given the threats he had already delivered to the children, particularly regarding their parents, this is a terrifying moment. It isn’t clear how far Jod would really go. Killing any of the children or their parents would be horrible, but Jod’s actions have been unpredictable and, sadly, increasingly cruel.
Jod’s actions have been unpredictable and, sadly, increasingly cruel.
This was also the exact moment the episode abruptly ended, leaving this cliffhanger unresolved until the Skeleton Crew finale next week. While it seems more than a little unlikely that Jod will really kill them all, it’s difficult to imagine how this story will end, now that Jod has revealed his lightsaber and his true intentions in front of the kids’ parents. This final scene’s connection to Revenge of the Sith only makes this all the more concerning.

This Revenge Of The Sith Callback Is Obvious
This moment in Skeleton Crew with Jod standing before the children and their parents holding out his blue lightsaber was immediately reminiscent of the scene in Revenge of the Sith in which Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader stands in front of the terrified group of younglings during Order 66, holding his own blue lightsaber. Presumably, this will end very differently in Skeleton Crew than it did in Revenge of the Sith. For one, Jod’s skills with a lightsaber are clearly nowhere near Anakin’s—again raising questions about what’s really going on with Jude Law’s Skeleton Crew character.
More obviously, whereas the younglings in Revenge of the Sith were tragically alone and defenseless, the Skeleton Crew kids are surrounded by their parents. Sure, their parents aren’t Jedi (or, at least, none of them seem to be), and Jod could theoretically cut them down with his lightsaber. However, this would be quite the feat for someone who doesn’t seem all that capable with a lightsaber or powerful in the Force. With the finale of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how this terrifying Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith callback plays out.
The first seven episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew are now streaming on Disney+.
