Stephen Graham's Critically Acclaimed Boxing Drama 'A Thousand Blows' Enters the Ring With New Season 2 Images [Exclusive]

The Peaky Blinders movie is on its way to Netflix, and it’s also been confirmed that Steven Knight‘s magnum opus series is returning after the movie. As the long wait for the franchise’s next chapter continues, there’s another critically acclaimed Knight project set to return to the meantime, as the Stephen Graham-led A Thousand Blows gets back in the ring for Season 2. Reuniting Graham and Erin Doherty following their team-up in the Emmy-winning Adolescence, alongside the likes of Malachi Kirby, Francis Lovehall, and Morgan Hilaire, Season 2 marks one of the most exciting small-screen arrivals in January 2026.

As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, debuting exclusives from more than 80 of the biggest movies and shows, we have teamed up with Hulu to bring a selection of brand-new images from Season 2 of A Thousand Blows, available to view below. With previews of the return of Graham’s boxer Sugar Goodson and Doherty’s Mary Carr as she points a pistol in anger, the exclusive images promise an explosive second season packed with Knight’s signature grit and drama. Graham joins Hannah Walters in executive producing Season 2, which is set to debut on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally on January 9, 2026. An official synopsis for the second season reads:

“Inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s. One year later, Hezekiah’s a shadow of the man he once was whilst Sugar Goodson is estranged from his family and drinking himself to death. Just as Wapping is about to sigh its last breath, Mary Carr bursts back into town with her loyal second, Alice Diamond, to reassemble her gang and reclaim her crown. As always, Mary has a plan; one which will involve all those she holds dearest. And this time it’s riskier than ever.”

‘A Thousand Blows’ Season 1 Earned Plenty of Acclaim

A Thousand Blows earned plenty of acclaim during its first season run, with much of said acclaim given to the lead performances. Graham, in particular, as is customary for the talented actor, was the recipient of gushing praise for his performance as Sugar Goodson, not just for his performance but also for his impressive physical transformation. The intense training he underwent became a part of his life following production, Graham admitted, which has likely come in handy with the series returning for a second season.

A Thousand Blows will return in January 2026. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for all the latest exclusives.
