MCU: Beyond The Spider-Verse Details, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, And More
Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s First Plot Details — While promoting their upcoming movie Project Hail Mary, Phil Lord and Chris Miller gave some new insights about 2027’s Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, revealing that the movie will largely be focused on Miles being torn between his calling as Spider-Man and his family:
“We know where it’s headed, but we need to understand better what’s happening in the middle. And we came upon a really wonderful notion, which is when your family is broken apart by your calling, your talents, how do you put them back together? How do you have it all?”
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe Getting A Future Reboot — Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman recently revealed in a new interview that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will eventually be getting a full reboot. With any luck, that hopefully means that Spider-Man himself will actually serve as the focal point in this new universe. Perhaps Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man could return as well.
First Avengers: Doomsday Early Reactions Teased — According to a new report from Variety, Disney executives are “very pleased” by early screenings of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release at the end of this year on December 18th, which does feel like a pretty good sign that the major MCU movie is headed in the right direction.
Daredevil Born Again Season 2’s Time Jump Confirmed — It was also confirmed this last week that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will open with a 6-month time jump from the first season’s finale, suggesting that Daredevil’s resistance to Mayor Kingpin and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force will be in full swing in the upcoming premiere, releasing on March 24th.
Insomniac’s Wolverine Has A Confirmed Release Date — Insomniac’s highly anticipated Wolverine game is confirmed to be coming to PS5 later this year on September 15th. Based on initial story and gameplay trailers, we know that most of the game will take place on the crime-ridden island of Madripoor, the perfect setting for a new Wolverine game.
Daniel Radcliffe Shuts Wolverine Casting Rumors — Speaking of Wolverine, actor Daniel Radcliffe reiterated for the umpteenth time that he has never been up for the role of Wolverine, nor is he all that interested in the idea:
“If they do other Wolverines, being the person who follows Hugh Jackman is not on my bucket list for anything. For any role of his, particularly the role he has made the most iconic of his career, I am happy not to be doing that and let him keeping doing it.“
Avengers: Doomsday WON’T Have An IMAX Release — We also learned this last week that IMAX has given Dune 3 exclusivity to its premium large format screens domestically for at least its opening weekend, a challenging notion for Avengers: Doomsday as both blockbusters are set to release on the same day, December 18th.
As such, Doomsday might not keep its release date, dwindling hopes for a “Dunesday” event in the style of “Barbenheimer”.
Spider-Noir Gets Official TV Rating— It’s also been confirmed that the upcoming Spider-Noir series has received a TV-14 rating, officially making it the most mature Spider-Man project we’ve ever had.
David Harbour’s Avengers: Doomsday Updates — Red Guardian actor David Harbour shared a handful of exciting updates this last week, confirming that additional reshoots are currently happening for Avengers: Doomsday, while also teasing new scenes and “a lot of beautiful stuff” between his character and Florence Pugh’s Yelena (Red Guardian’s daughter and leader of the New Avengers).
Harbour also teased an ongoing bromance triangle between Red Guardian, Bucky, and John Walker’s U.S. Agent.
DCU: Smallville, Paramount/Warner Brothers, Man of Steel 2 Plans, And More
Smallville Becomes Major Streaming Hit — Turning 25 years old in October, the classic 10-season CW series Smallville has become a major worldwide streaming hit on Netflix, currently sitting at the #1 spot in Mexico, #2 in Cyprus, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Finland, Jamaica, Salvador, and Trinidad and Tobago, #3 in Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, #4 show for Netflix in Colombia, #5 in Bolivia, Costa Rica, and #6 in Sweden, Uruguay, Venezuela, Romania, Paraguay, and Chile.
This is great news for fans of the Superman series, especially with actors Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum’s recent attempts to get an animated revival series off the ground. In the US, Smallville is currently streaming on Hulu.
Paramount’s Presents “Superior Offer” To Purchase Warner Bros. — While it seemed as though Warner Bros. was going to be sold to Netflix, Paramount countered this last week with a superior offer. Although there are still a few months to go before the deal is finalized, it’s looking highly likely that Paramount will soon have major WB assets, including DC Studios and James Gunn’s DCU.
Zack Snyder Breaks Silence On James Gunn’s Superman — On the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, director Zack Snyder shared a few interesting reveals not only about his time in the DCEU, but also some high praise for James Gunn’s Superman, which released last year:
“James’ Superman, which is amazing and all the best to them, and I can’t wait to see the next movie, and it’s just awesome.”
Zack Snyder Reignites Hopes For Justice League 2 & 3 — When asked by interviewer Josh Horowitz about the chances of Justice League 2 & 3 ever being made as comics or animated features, Snyder confirmed that talks have indeed been happening, reignting hopes that his stories might finally see the full light of day (even if it doesn’t happen on the big screen).
Zack Snyder Confirms Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel 2 Villain — Last but not least, Snyder also confirmed that Brainiac was indeed the intended villain and part of the plan for a potential Man of Steel 2:
“We absolutely did. My plan was to hopefully have this sort of established timeline we could branch off and go do this Brainiac movie that would have like a Superman/Brainiac solo concept.”
Interestingly enough, Brainiac will finally get his live-action big screen debut with James Gunn’s Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, releasing in 2027.

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
