Back in September, DanDaDan confirmed that a third season is coming, and now, its release date has been teased. Based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga of the same name, the second season premiered in July and featured another 12 episodes, continuing Momo Ayase (Abby Trott) and Okarun’s (A.J. Beckles) supernatural adventures. Since its release, DanDaDan Season 2 has been a hit, to the point that the anime is coming back, but fans will have to wait a while for its return.
It was reported that during Jump Festa 2026, Science Saru, the studio behind the DanDaDan anime, confirmed that Season 3 will air in 2027. A full release date has yet to be revealed, but Science Saru confirmed that Season 3 has entered production. Alongside this announcement, the studio released a teaser visual for the show’s next season, featuring the two main characters, with Turbo Granny, while behind them is the mysterious girl in the Kaiju costume, who was introduced in the previous season.
DanDaDan is an anime series based on the ongoing 2021 manga of the same name, where it follows Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura (aka Okarun), one of whom believes in ghosts while the other believes in aliens. As they attempt to prove each other wrong, the two are attacked by the supernatural and gain new abilities. From there, they team up with their friends and family to fight the extraterrestrial. The anime adaptation debuted in 2024, and since then, the series has earned a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences gave it a high 91%. Between anime releases, DanDaDan released two anime compilation films, the most recent being Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, which grossed over $6.9 million worldwide.
What To Watch If You Like ‘DanDaDan’
Since it’s going to be a while before DanDaDan Season 3 is released, a handful of anime have come out with premises that could keep fans busy during the wait. One anime worth watching is Mob Psycho 100. It follows Shigeo Kageyama (Kyle McCarley), a middle school boy with strong psychic powers, who has to learn to control his abilities. Throughout the show, he faces supernatural threats.
Another show worth watching that’s similar to DanDaDan is Bleach. This classic anime premiered in 2004 and follows a high school student named Ichigo (Johhny Yong Bosch) who accidentally gains the power of a Soul Reaper. Now, he and a few classmates with supernatural powers must face other supernatural foes. But unlike DanDaDan, Bleach has a more traditional shōnen structure filled with action-packed battles and drama, rather than comedy.
DanDaDan Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix. Follow Collider to stay up to date with the latest updates.
