The Fate of 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!' Has Been Decided — And It’s a Shocker

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is returning for a second season…but it won’t return to Prime Video. The spin-off of venerable game show Jeopardy! is performing the rare feat of moving from one streaming service to another. Pop Culture Jeopardy! will premiere its second season in 2026, exclusively on Netflix.

According to reports, Saturday Night Live funnyman Colin Jost, who hosted the first season of the show, is in talks to return for the second season. The show was initially launched on Prime Video in late 2024 as part of a block of Prime-original game shows, but there has been significant turnover in the Amazon executive suite since then, especially when it comes to unscripted programming. Several executives have, in fact, migrated to Netflix. There, it will join shows like Is It Cake? (featuring Jost’s SNL castmate Mikey Day) and Squid Game: The Challenge. It also joins the original Jeopardy! in having a new streaming home; long unavailable on most streaming services, new and classic episodes of Jeopardy! are now available to stream on both Hulu and Peacock.

What’s Different About ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’?

Pop Culture Jeopardy! features one of the biggest shakeups to the Jeopardy! format in decades. Instead of three individuals facing off, each Pop Culture Jeopardy! episode features three teams of three contestants. While most of the gameplay remains the same, with answers being provided in the form of questions, and Daily Doubles (allowing contestants to wager some or all of their earnings) scattered across the board, it introduced a new type of special question — the Triple Play. One Triple Play question is hidden on each game board, and has three answers (for instance: Molly Ringwald starred in these three John Hughes films); each member of the team must provide one of the three answers (in this case, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club). If one is unable to come up with the correct answer, another team can steal the question.

The move comes as Jeopardy! has steadily increased its TV footprint. In addition to the syndicated, Ken Jennings-hosted flagship series, the show also has two prime-time spin-offs that air on ABC: Celebrity Jeopardy!, in which stars compete for charity (and to maintain their dignity), and Jeopardy! Masters, in which the show’s super-champs face off against tougher questions for a million-dollar grand prize.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! will premiere its second season on Netflix in 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
