The Most Intense Body Horror Flick of 2025 Finally Arrives on Streaming

For decades, filmmakers have used the horror genre to unravel the oftentimes difficult bonds between family members. Movies like Ari Aster’s Hereditary and Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook cut in plenty of scares amidst a loaded storyline that details how a family can forever be affected by the generations that came before them. Earlier this year, horror fans saw a new kind of subgenre reveal itself when Michael Shanks stepped out with his feature-length directorial debut through the Dave Franco and Alison Brie-led film, Together. Blending what we’d describe as codependency-horror with body horror and tossing in a good dash of the supernatural for added vibes, the unsettling film quickly became a standout of the last year. If you weren’t able to see one of the best titles to come from Neon in recent years during its cinematic run, fear not, as Together will officially be arriving just in time to ring in the New Year with your loved ones on Hulu December 31.

Hailed by Stephen King as one of the year’s greatest genre films, Together centers around Tim Brassington (Franco) and Millie Wilson (Brie), a couple who have just relocated to the quiet countryside for the former to chase his dreams of becoming a well-known musician and the latter to pick up a job as an English teacher. Their move starts innocent enough, but the longer they become engulfed by their quiet surroundings, the more they begin to blend together — not just emotionally and mentally, but physically as well. What happens next is a non-stop thrill ride through some of the most intense body horror of the last decade.

In addition to Franco and Brie, who aren’t just a couple in Together, but also in real life, the film features performances from Mia Morrissey (Totally Completely Fine), Damon Herriman (Flesh and Bone), Jack Kenny (I’ll Be Home for Christmas), and Karl Richmond (Neighbours). Upon its premiere in early 2025 at the Sundance Film Festival, the movie went on to celebrate a release in the summer, earning $32.3 million at the box office during its cinematic run. With largely positive reviews, Together landed an impressive 90% critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving the highly sought-after Certified Fresh stamp of approval.

Neon’s Delightful Year of Horror

In addition to Together, the studio behind such genre favorites as Longlegs and Infinity Pool welcomed a handful of other terrific horror films to the fold over the last year, including both Oz PerkinsThe Monkey and Keeper, Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk’s Hell of a Summer, and Chris Stuckmann’s Shelby Oaks.

Head over to Hulu on December 31 to stream Together.
