One of the biggest Netflix shows released this year was definitely The Night Agent. The hit Netflix original action drama returned with its highly anticipated second season in January 2025 after making quite the unexpected splash with its premiere back in March 2023. Thankfully, we likely won’t have to wait that long for season 3 — and season 4?! — to be released.
Before The Night Agent season 2 premiered earlier this year, Netflix announced an early renewal for season 3, and the streaming service looks to be keeping that tradition alive with a possible season 4 renewal before season 3 arrives sometime in 2026.
According to a report from Deadline, Netflix seems to be eyeing a renewal for The Night Agent season 4 as the series secured a tax credit to relocate production to Los Angeles, California. The first three seasons have been filmed in Canada, New York, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Washington DC. This would mark the show’s first time filming in LA.

The fact that The Night Agent season 4 has nabbed a lucrative production tax credit is a great sign that Netflix will give the next season the green light. Additionally, the season 4 writer’s room has started, which is another indication that a formal renewal could be announced before season 3 either gets a release date or premieres.
The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan has allegedly intended to move the series to Los Angeles from the very beginning, with the fourth season being set in the city, as reported by Deadline. In order to make the production and location move official, the series need to land a tax credit. With that out of the way, there’s nothing slowing season 4 down.
If Netflix announces the season 4 renewal before the end of the year, which would mirror the season 3 renewal last year, filming on the next season could get up and running in early 2026. The Night Agent season 3 kicked off in late 2024 with limited scenes filmed in Istanbul before production started officially in February 2025 and wrapped up in July.
Since Netflix hasn’t yet revealed The Night Agent season 3 release date (but still could before the end of the year), we can likely count out another release in January. The series might return to the month it first premiered in with a bow in March 2026, or we can catch back up with Peter Sutherland in February. But the series will without question be back in action in early 2026.
