‘The Witcher’ Moves On From Henry Cavill in First Look at Season 4

The Continent is changing, and so is its White Wolf. Netflix has finally unveiled the first look at The Witcher Season 4, and with it, our first official glimpse of Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia. Alongside the teaser footage and key art, the streamer confirmed that the new season will premiere on October 30, 2025.

Season 4 marks a new chapter for the fantasy juggernaut after Henry Cavill’s exit in Season 3. Hemsworth’s casting stirred passionate debate, but the new clip offers fans their first chance to see how he embodies the grizzled monster hunter. This installment also serves as the start of a two-season arc. As showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Tudum, This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.”

Joining Hemsworth’s Geralt are returning fan favorites Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Laurence Fishburne joins the cast as Regis, while Sharlto Copley takes on the role of feared bounty hunter Leo Bonhart. Other familiar faces include Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Eamon Farren (Cahir), and Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), alongside a sprawling ensemble of mages, elves, and kings.

When Can We Expect Season 5 of ‘The Witcher’?

Earlier this year, Fishburne sat down with Collider’s Steve Weintraub and shared a brief update about his upcoming role in The Witcher:

“[Regarding] The Witcher, folks are going to have to just be patient with us. We’re starting Season 5 now. I will start when I leave here today. I go and I start filming.”

Netflix previously noted that The Witcher will wrap up its time on the streamer with Season 5. That last season is, as per Fishburne’s comments, shooting back-to-back with Season 4 and is set to adapt the remaining books in the saga, leading up to the end of Ciri’s long and brutal journey. Fishburne called the opportunity to join The Witcher an exciting one, saying in a previous statement, “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.” The good news is, from what Fishburne has said, it seems fans won’t have to wait long to see him bring one of the franchise’s most intriguing characters to life.

The Witcher Season 4 premieres October 30, 2025, on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
