This 52% Rotten Tomatoes Action Flick Featuring ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Spider-Man’ Stars Has Just Exploded Onto a New Streamer

Although their paths may not have crossed in the MCU (not yet anyway), Deadpool & Wolverine’s Channing Tatum and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Jamie Foxx once put it all on the line in a gritty action thriller. Pressing the gas pedal down to the floor and steering subscribers directly into the summer blockbuster season, Netflix is officially the new home of White House Down. Though perhaps overshadowed by other similar blockbusters of the time, like the Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman-led Olympus Has Fallen, the 2013 title has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years thanks to its appearance on streaming platforms, bringing the high-octane story to an entirely new set of eyes.

Trying to win favor in the eyes of his daughter, single father, John Cale (Tatum) scores tickets to a one-of-a-kind tour of the White House. An Afghanistan veteran, John now works as a Capitol policeman but has dreams of joining the Secret Service, dreams that will be put to the test as the movie unfolds. While the father and daughter are enjoying their visit, a gang of mercenaries attacks the White House, leading to mass chaos and panic. With no choice but to prove himself while also saving his daughter and the leader of the United States, John steps in to save President James Sawyer (Foxx).

The fast-paced film also features performances by Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight), Joey King (The Kissing Booth), Richard Jenkins (Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), James Woods (Hercules), and Jason Clarke (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty). At the helm stood Roland Emmerich, a director who has never shied away from making an explosive piece of cinema, having also attached his name to Independence Day, The Patriot, and The Day After Tomorrow.

What’s Next for the Leading Men of ‘White House Down’?

Both Tatum and Foxx are staying busy these days, with the former preparing for the arrival of his crime comedy-drama, Roofman, which is set to arrive in cinemas on October 10. Beyond that, Marvel fans were thrilled to see the Deadpool & Wolverine star’s name on the back of a chair during the studio’s first rollout reveal of the cast behind Avengers: Doomsday. Given all the actor has been through during his quest to play Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit, we’re excited to see him follow-up his spot in last year’s summer blockbuster with another MCU appearance.

As for Foxx, following a string of health complications, the actor has been sitting out of the limelight these days. Still, 2025 has seen the arrival of his action-comedy, Back in Action, in which he starred alongside Cameron Diaz.

Head over to Netflix now to stream White House Down.
