Tom Holland is about to have one of the biggest years of his whole career.
2026 is in one of its busiest seasons ever for massive theatrical releases, with two films in particular arriving this month that will go toe-to-toe at the box office. However, the two respective projects share a few stars in common, with Holland being one of them.
In an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley for The Odyssey, Holland was asked about having manifested major roles like Spider-Man and Nathan Drake throughout his career, as he is now bringing Telemachus to the big screen in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic fantasy. When posed with the question about how he manifested his latest gig, and if it wasn’t directly, whether he owes a thanks to Robert Fitzgerald, as he shared the following while also teasing that he knows what role he is looking for next:
Tom Holland: I think we should thank Robert Fitzgerald.
Anne Hathaway: Robert Fitzgerald, thank you so much. Magician you.
Tom Holland: I really believe in manifestation.
Liam Crowley: And did you know that line already?
Tom Holland: No, I was joking. But yeah, I really believe in it. I genuinely believe in manifestation and I have been so lucky in my life. It seems like if I want something, all I got to do is say it in an interview and then a couple years later it’ll come true.
Liam Crowley: So what do you want right now?
Tom Holland: I can’t talk about that.
The actor recently shared with Fandango that he was nervous about whether the Hollywood filmmaker was satisfied with his performance, stating that “Working with the IMAX camera for the first time is an experience. It is unlike anything I have ever seen before. And I didn’t know that it only ran for three minutes. So I remember [Nolan] would continue cutting.” He continued, “I was with Jon, I’m like, “Why does he keep cutting? Why does he keep doing that?’ And I’m in my head, I’m like, ‘Does he not like what we’re doing? Like, what is happening?’”
The Odyssey movie marks the first time Holland and Nolan are collaborating, while the British star is also reuniting with Zendaya and Jon Bernthal, who play Athena and Menelaus, respectively. The trio will then be featured together in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring the return of Peter Parker for the first time since 2021.
While the summer blockbusters have yet to open in theaters, The Odyssey reactions are already off to a solid start, with many calling it another success for Nolan. Crowley defined it as the “must-see theatrical experience of our generation.”
The Odyssey cast is headlined by Matt Damon as Odysseus, while Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o also star as Penelope, Antinous, and Helen of Troy, respectively. This marks Nolan’s first film since Oppenheimer, which landed The Dark Knight trilogy director an Oscar for Best Director, as well as winning Best Picture.
Time will tell when the world will find out what Holland’s next project will be, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe alum has been busy promoting both of his 2026 releases. While it remains to be seen if audience members will see him a third time this year in Avengers. Doomsday, his journey this summer will be a major one to follow.
The Odyssey opens in theaters on July 17.
