Tubi and Kickstarter's Groundbreaking Initiative Unveils 3 Must-See Indie Movie Trailers [Exclusive]

Tubi and Kickstarter have partnered to launch the FilmStream Collective, an initiative designed to support the funding and distribution of independent films. The program aims to empower emerging filmmakers by providing both financial backing and a platform for their work. Now, audiences are getting their first look at what the collaboration can produce, with the release of three new trailers for films developed through the program: Growing Pains, Foibles, and Fallen Fruit. And Collider is thrilled to team with Tubi to exclusively share this debut.

All three films will debut on Tubi, the free streaming platform that offers a wide selection of shows, movies, and more—supported by limited commercial interruptions. The partnership with Kickstarter represents an exciting opportunity for aspiring filmmakers. Per the press release: “The collaboration reflects Tubi’s ongoing commitment to champion emerging creators and expand pathways for diverse, independent voices to reach its audience of over 100 million monthly active users.”

The shared vision between Tubi and Kickstarter centers on a clear purpose: “Its mission to champion underrepresented creators in the indie space.” Viewers can join in celebrating these filmmakers by watching the trailers for three new independent films, arriving on Tubi on November 7.

‘Growing Pains’ Is For Those Who Never Quite Fit In

The trailer for the film Growing Pains is a perfect look into what it feels like growing up when you’re not sure who you are. The film is described as follows: “Childhood best friends Zoe and Nat face secrets, insecurities, and growing pains as their bond is tested during one life-changing summer.” Directed by Catherine Argyrople, the film stars Deanna Tarraza, Molly Morneweck, Deb LeClair, Maia Isabel Frias, and Maga Uzo.

For being part of Tubi’s kickstarter program, Growing Pains already looks like a must-see film. Especially if you’ve ever struggled to understand who you really are.

‘Foibles’ Is For the People Who Just Can’t Let Go

Stories about addiction are often somber, emotionally charged, and difficult to watch—leaving audiences with much to process long after the credits roll. However, Tubi’s Kickstarter initiative offers a different take with Foibles. The film follows Jordan, a man who enables his ex, Gabrielle, by helping her pay for her DUI. But his assistance comes with a troubling twist: he wants her to drink so excessively that she grows to despise alcohol and ultimately sobers up as a result.

Foibles is described as follows: “A codependent with a hero complex tries to save his alcoholic ex after a DUI by pushing her to drink herself sober, no matter the cost.” The film is directed by Ryan Oksenberg and stars John Karna, Carina Conti, Debra Wilson, Dean McDermott, and Michael Yo.

A Look at Miami in a Fresh Way With ‘Fallen Fruit’

Fallen Fruit’s trailer features one of its most strikingly relatable lines. The main character reflects on his struggle to make sense of his life, admitting that he wants to die (but not really) and that he simply wishes he could disappear until he figures things out. It’s a sentiment that many viewers are likely to recognize. The film is described as follows: “A heartbroken 20-something returns to his Miami hometown, where an approaching hurricane compels him to confront his past and those he left behind.”

Fallen Fruit stars Ramiro Batista, Austin Cassel, Krystal Millie Valdes, Adrian Menendez, and Joanne Perica and is directed by Chris Molina.

Catch Growing Pains, Foibles, and Fallen Fruit on Tubi beginning on November 7.
