Eden is an underrated 2025 release, and a week away from the movie’s arrival on Netflix, I believe more should check out this tense survival thriller. This year has seen a lack of balance when it came to the box office, with some big names not being able to lead their movies to financial success. Sadly, Eden‘s star-studded cast was among those.
At a reported $35 million net budget, Eden ended its box office run with a measly $2.8 million total, which means the studio lost millions on the film. At face value, that might indicate a poor level for the film. However, on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a decent 73% audience score, and after watching the movie, I’m convinced Eden could become a major streaming hit.
Eden Arrives On Netflix Next Week
There are many exciting movies on Netflix for subscribers to watch as December comes to a close. While families might tend to go for the usual Christmas classics this time of the year, Eden is the perfect counter-programming for those in search of a mature and twisted adventure. After its poor box office performance, it’s clear many missed Eden in theaters.
Well, now Netflix subscribers will get the chance to change that very soon. Eden will arrive on Netflix on December 23. Its release on the most popular streaming platform comes almost exactly four months after its theatrical debut on August 22. For those who do not have Netflix, Eden has been available on digital platforms for purchase since September 19.
Why Eden Is Worth Watching On Netflix
There are a few reasons why Eden is worth watching when it comes to Netflix next week, and the first one any viewer should consider is its cast. Director Ron Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas/Apollo 13) pieced together quite the talented ensemble, with stars like Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, Sydney Sweeney, and Daniel Brühl.
The actors give it their all as their characters soon find their island in the Galápagos too small for everyone involved. Eden centers on the characters’ battle for survival, as the island’s harsh conditions and the lack of trust they have in one another lead to increasingly violent events that culminate in a bloody climax that forever changes their lives.
Eden works as both a nuanced character study and a showcase of its star-studded cast’s range. Never was I bored by its slow-burn approach and over 2 hours of runtime, as Howard takes his time to truly break down what each group of characters wants and how far they are willing to go to get it. Eden should become a hit on Netflix.
