Why Goody Addams Isn't In Wednesday Season 2

Throughout Wednesday season 1, Jenna Ortega’s titular anti-heroine received assistance in solving a murder mystery at Nevermore Academy from the spirit of her ancestor, Goody Addams, but it doesn’t seem likely that she will return in season 2. Wednesday Addams return to Nevermore Academy to solve a new mystery and save her werewolf friend, Enid, from death in Wednesday season 2.

Wednesday season 1’s ending saw Wednesday banishing the evil spirit of Joseph Crackstone and saving the Outcasts of Nevermore Academy. The first episode of season 2 sees Wednesday meeting new Outcast species who each possess unique powers upon her return to Nevermore for the new school year.

As Wednesday season 2 progresses, viewers will undoubtedly see the students of Nevermore Academy face a new threat, and future episodes will also explore more into Wednesday’s family, including the unveiling of Pugsley Addams’ new power. It’s possible that Wednesday will receive help from a spirit guide similar to Goody Addams in season 1.

Goody Stopped Being Wednesday’s Spirit Guide After Season 1

Goody Addams Returned To The Afterlife After Crackstone’s Demise

Throughout season 1, Wednesday confronts visions of her ancestor, Goody Addams (also played by Jenna Ortega), a witch from Mexico who settled in Jericho in the 17th century. Through visions, it’s shown that Goody Addams killed Joseph Crackstone, out of revenge for her mother’s death, and placed a blood curse on him to protect Outcasts from extinction.

In Wednesday season 1, episode 6, the spirit of Goody instructs Wednesday on how to defeat Crackstone and to seek out the Gates mansion. Goody continues to assist Wednesday in battling against Joseph Crackstone’s descendants and heals her after Wednesday is seriously injured by Laurel Gates. While Goody proved a worthy spirit guide for Wednesday, her services came to an end after season 1.

Joseph Crackstone was shown to be Goody Addams’ longstanding enemy throughout Wednesday season 1 and, like her descendant, was determined to eliminate him; following Crackstone’s death, Goody’s services as Wednesday’s spirit guide came to an end, and she was able to return to the afterlife, knowing that the man responsible for her mother’s death, had finally met his true demise.

Who Will Be Wednesday’s New Spirit Guide In Season 2?

It’s Been Hinted By Morticia That Wednesday Will Receive A New Spirit Guide

Jenna Ortega staring ahead as Wednesday in the season 1 finale

While she may have returned to the afterlife, Wednesday season 2 evoked Goody Addams through her spellbook, which Wednesday had been using to help master her powers before returning to Nevermore. While nothing has yet been confirmed, it has been hinted that Wednesday will receive a new spirit guide as she does her best to prevent Enid’s impending death.

Wednesday’s mother, Morticia Addams, has stated that, when the time is right, Wednesday will receive a new spirit guide from the family’s bloodline. The fate of Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister, is explored in the first episode of Wednesday season 2; Morticia reveals that Ophelia had psychic powers similar to Wednesday, so it is possible that Ophelia could serve as Wednesday’s new spirit guide.

Though no confirmation has been made of the identity of her new spirit guide, as Wednesday season 2 progresses, Wednesday will undoubtedly receive more guidance from the spirits, similar to Goody Addams’ assistance, as the new mystery surrounding Nevermore unveils itself.
