The past and present of Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone franchise are about to collide in a modern western thriller at Paramount. A new report confirmed that Hassie Harrison, who appeared as the barrel racer Laramie across the final three seasons of the wildly popular flagship series, has signed on to join 1923 star Brandon Sklenar in the new film The Rescue from Old Henry helmer Potsy Ponciroli. The title has been a high priority ever since it was first announced under Skydance before its landscape-shifting merger with Paramount was underway. Filming is slated to begin sometime next summer.
Finer details of The Rescue are being kept under wraps at this time, but the premise centers on a rodeo cowboy who’s forced to put his skills to the test outside the arena with real stakes riding on his shoulders. Its modern-day setting, however, should make it more akin to Yellowstone and familiar ground for Hasson. The film is written by John Fusco, perhaps best known for penning the classic Emilio Estevez western ensemble Young Guns and the Matt Damon-starring animated film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Shannon Houchins and Cliff Roberts are also producing alongside Ponciroli.
