NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at the prospect of Taylor Swift performing in the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.
Goodell admitted that he’s keen on the idea of Swift taking to the field at the big game while chatting with Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin on the “Today” show Wednesday.
Guthrie asked Goodell if the pop star had been invited to headline the halftime show in Santa Clara, Calif., next February, prompting him to admit that the NFL “would always love to have Taylor play.”
“She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” Goodell, 66, said.
Guthrie pressed him about whether or not a Swift show was “in the works.”
“I can’t tell you anything about that,” he admitted, before teasing, “It’s a maybe.”
Guthrie’s co-host Melvin then jumped in to inquire as to when the NFL would be making a decision about the halftime talent.
“I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z to be able to help me with that one,” Goodell said, referring to the rapper’s Roc Nation company, which produces the halftime show.
“It’s in his hands,” Goodell added of the “Run This Town” artist. “I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”
The “Blank Space” singer announced her engagement to Travis Kelce last week after two years of dating.
Since taking their love public in the summer of 2023, Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs played in the Super Bowl for two consecutive years, and Swift was in the stands cheering him on both times.
Last year, rumors swirled that Swift would be making a cameo on stage during the halftime show by Kendrick Lamar as the two artists collaborated on her 2014 hit, “Bad Blood.”
However, she stayed in her private suite where she watched as the Chiefs were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.
A year prior, Swift was able to celebrate Kelce’s championship win with a kiss on the field after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22.
Swifties have since been foaming at the mouth for the opportunity to watch Kelce play in a Super Bowl game and Swift perform in the halftime show.
Per Goodell, only time will tell.
