The Seattle Seahawks will host the 2026 NFL Kickoff game on Sept. 9 at Lumen Field. However, their opponent remains to be seen, as that won’t be known until the league releases its schedule.

Nonetheless, the Seahawks know which teams they’ll face in the 2026 season, and one of them is the Chicago Bears. Seattle came close to facing Caleb Williams and Co. in the NFC title game, but they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round.

As a result, Kay Adams, the host of “Up & Adams,” believes that a Bears-Seahawks matchup on Sept. 9 would be the ideal way to start a new NFL season.

“The Seahawks’ potential opponents for Week 1 are all pretty juicy, and there’s a potential Super Bowl rematch: the Chiefs, of course, and the Cowboys,” Adams said on the March 27 edition of “Up & Adams.” “Only one is the right choice, and we mentioned it to Coby Bryant last week, but I want to make it official. It is the Chicago Bears.

“America needs Caleb Williams on national TV to usher in the new season and give it a big old bear hug… I need a Ben Johnson, Mike McDonald chess match. That will be pure brilliance. That’s what I’m rooting for.

“[Jaxon Smith‑Njigba], Jaylon Johnson, sign me up. That will be amazing: The highest-paid wide receiver up against a guy who’s got a little vengeance, a little something they want to show the world after that unceremonious, brutal loss to the Rams.”

Coby Bryant Would Like to Play Seahawks in Week 1

On March 19, Bryant appeared on “Up & Adams and said the Bears will play the Seahawks this upcoming season, noting he would like his new team to head to Seattle in Week 1 to spoil the celebrations.

“Every game’s a meaningful game, but I wouldn’t mind honestly starting the season off out there [against the Seahawks], Bryant told Adams. “Weather would be nice; the whole world will be watching.”

Moreover, Bryant believes his new team will be up to face the Seahawks regardless of where the NFL decides to schedule this game.

“I’m always motivated, Bryant noted. “I know [Bears head coach Ben Johnson] will be too, and Caleb [Williams] and the rest of the team will be. Like I said, we’re building something special over there, and I’m excited.”

Bears Get Praise for Signing Coby Bryant

Additionally, the Bears are earning praise for taking advantage of the Seahawks’ decision to let Bryant walk as a free agent. FOX Sports NFL reporter Eric Williams put out his Top 10 list of under-the-radar signings from the offseason.

“The Cincinnati product emerged as a part-time role player at cornerback in his first two years with the Seattle Seahawks, into a full-time starter at safety who helped propel one of the best defenses in the league to a Super Bowl, Williams wrote in an article published on March 27.

“Bryant is a versatile playmaker who is a sure tackler in the running game and should help solidify a defense that lost safeties Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker in free agency.”
