An intake nurse in Texas is facing severe backlash after allegedly delaying a woman’s admission to hospital while she was in active labor.
As seen in a series of videos shared to social media, Kiara Jones was at the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, visibly in pain and about to give birth while she waited in a wheelchair to be admitted.
The clip, shared by Jones’ mother Kash Manuel, shows the woman sitting down and screaming in agony while being asked questions at a check in desk.
Manuel wrote that the hospital had kept her waiting for ‘more than 30 minutes,’ and left the new mom ‘mentally exhausted and traumatized.’
She added that Jones’ son Kash was born only 12 minutes after she was eventually moved to a delivery room.
‘The delivery was AWFUL,’ Manuel wrote on the video.
In another video posted to TikTok, Jones is seen standing up and turning around in the wheelchair, asking the nurse if she can call an anesthesiologist as her labor continues.
In response, the nurse told her that someone will have to come and take her to labor and delivery since she could not help her.

‘The charge nurse’s whole demeanor was not interested and unconcerned,’ Manuel wrote.
‘This nurse showed lack of emotional, and refusal to be concerned with my daughter’s physical being, which left her feeling mentally exhausted and traumatized because at this point, she is worried about the birth of her baby,’ she added.
The Daily Mail has contacted Kash Manuel for comment.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a spokesperson from the hospital said: ‘At Dallas Regional Medical Center, the safety, dignity, and well-being of our patients are always our highest priorities.
‘We are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every person who comes through our doors, and we are reviewing this situation to understand what occurred.
‘Due to patient privacy laws, we cannot share further details at this time, but our focus remains on ensuring that every patient receives the attentive, respectful care they deserve.’
The concerned grandmother also said that mom and baby were both left ‘stressed’ by the situation.
She added that Jones’ and her son are undergoing a series of tests as the baby was ‘born with his eyes open.

‘They are taking all that into consideration as well. But he’s eating well, sleeping well, looking good.’
In a follow up video, Manuel explained Jones had called the hospital ahead of time, claiming the staff told her to move her car when they arrived.
She also claims staff gave her a wheelchair but didn’t help her get Jones inside.
Manuel alleged when she got Jones inside the hospital, she was then told she couldn’t go to labor and delivery until the paperwork had been signed.
