Ozzy Osbourne honored at VMAs 2025 with powerful rock tribute featuring Aerosmith and Yungblud

Rest in peace, Ozzy Osbourne.

During Sunday’s 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, the late Prince of Darkness was honored with a powerful rock tribute featuring Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, along with punk rock singer Yungblud and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.

The segment began with a video montage from Ozzy’s son, Jack, and his four daughters — all clad in “Ozzy” shirts — who introduced the tribute to the rock legend with a medley of memories.

Yungblud then hit the stage, mimicking Ozzy’s signature “All Aboard” call, before singing his rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” and “Crazy Train.”

Moments later, the 28-year-old singer joined Tyler and Perry for “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” receiving loud applause from the audience.

Prior to the show, several stars, including Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless, honored the late heavy metal icon while exclusively chatting with Page Six on the red carpet.

“Ozzy is so important to me. Black Sabbath is so important to me and what I do,” the “Gossip Girl” alum explained.

While she never had the pleasure of meeting the hitmaker in person, Momsen still noted how Ozzy’s music became “ingrained in [her] psyche and being.”

“I feel like I know him and I do know the family,” she said, adding that she was excited to hug the rest of the Osbournes Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Ozzy’s guitarist, Bettencourt, told Page Six that being included in the tribute to the heavy metal “godfather” meant “everything” to him.

“As a guitarist coming up listening to rock and metal, he was a godfather to us,” Bettencourt gushed, praising Ozzy’s career with Black Sabbath, his solo artist days, and, eventually, his turn to reality TV.

“This guy’s affected culture in a way and touched everybody in so many different ways.”

Yungblud also paid tribute to Ozzy on the red carpet by wearing a special cross necklace that was gifted to him by the Prince of Darkness prior to his death.

The former Black Sabbath frontman died on July 22 at the age of 76. His family confirmed his passing in a statement obtained by Page Six, which noted that the legendary rocker was “with his family and surrounded by love” at the time of his death.

Ozzy gave his last performance earlier that month at the Black Sabbath farewell concert held at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.

“If you have got to go — I mean, I wish Ozzy lived another 30 years — but if you’ve got to go out, it really felt like he knew,” rocker Tom Morello, who worked as musical director for Ozzy’s final show, said on Chicago’s Q101 radio show.

He also marveled over “the fact that he lived to play and feel that love and to one more time; you know, to do ‘Paranoid;’ to do ‘Crazy Train.’”

Prior to his death, Ozzy was reportedly “in peace” after having moved to Buckinghamshire, England, with his wife, Sharon, in 2023 to live out his “final chapter.”

“Ozzy’s final days were spent in England, surrounded by family, music and in the place he called home,” a source told People in July.

“Sharon had wanted to move back to England for years, especially as she got older. England was always home for them, but it became more than that.”

Nearly one week after his death, Ozzy’s family gathered for an emotional funeral procession in Birmingham to lay the rock icon to rest.

Each member referenced the late star with an item worn as part of their somber outfits. Sharon wore one of Ozzy’s wedding rings on a long chain as a necklace.

Their kids also followed suit. Aimee, 41, wore a bat brooch, referencing the time Ozzy famously bit the head off a bat during one of his shows in 1982, while Kelly, 40, rocked a pair of circular blue-tinted glasses that closely resembled her father’s signature pair.

Meanwhile, Jack, 39, sported a black Chrome Hearts tie that featured a silver cross embellishment at the bottom — a clear reference to his dad’s plethora of cross jewelry that he regularly wore.
