The Seattle Seahawks are seeing their own depth show up on other teams’ rosters. In the span of a few weeks, three different Seahawks players have been claimed off waivers, with defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna becoming the latest to land elsewhere.

Seattle waived Bohanna on Thursday after he had bounced between the practice squad and active roster and logged appearances in five games this season. The Green Bay Packers wasted little time putting in a claim, adding the veteran interior lineman to fortify their own defensive front for a playoff push.

The Packers activated WR Jayden Reed off injured reserve, claimed DL Quinton Bohanna off waivers from the Seahawks and released WR Malik Heath.

Bohanna’s departure followed earlier waiver claims on two other Seahawks: cornerback Derion Kendrick and defensive back Jerrick Reed. Kendrick, originally claimed by Seattle off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams in late August, ended up back in Los Angeles when the Rams claimed him following his release. Reed, meanwhile, drew interest from the Tennessee Titans, who picked him up in November.

In all three cases, opponents saw enough on Seattle tape and in limited snaps to jump at the chance to add these players as soon as they hit the wire.

Waiver Losses Highlight Seahawks’ Roster Depth

Losing three players through waivers in such a short span could be viewed as a negative, but it also underlines how deep the Seahawks’ roster has become in 2025. Field Gulls noted that Seattle has had capable replacements ready, with players like Ty Okada stepping into the secondary and center Olu Oluwatimi anchoring the offensive line as others have moved on.

Even after the churn, the Seahawks enter Week 14 at 9-3 with one of the league’s best scoring defenses and a live shot at the NFC’s No. 1 seed. The team just welcomed back Pro Bowl safety Julian Love and defensive tackle Jarran Reed from injured reserve, giving them their fullest defensive lineup since the opening series of the season.

That combination — healthy high-end starters and role players good enough to be claimed elsewhere — is shaping Seattle’s identity. The coaching staff has consistently leaned on young or lesser-known contributors to fill in, and other contenders around the league are taking notice as they scan the waiver wire.

What It Means for Seattle’s Playoff Push

From a big-picture standpoint, the recent run of waiver claims is a roster-management story, not a crisis. None of the players claimed were projected cornerstone starters for Seattle, and the Seahawks have already made corresponding moves or leaned on other in-house options.

Where it does matter is in the margins. Special teams, injury insurance and situational depth can swing close games in December and January. As the Seahawks push through the final five games of the regular season, they’ll have to hope their luck with health holds and that their promoted role players continue to produce the way they have so far.

In the meantime, the steady interest in ex-Seahawks up and down the waiver wire is a subtle confirmation: the rest of the league sees value in what Seattle is building. If the Seahawks finish the job and lock up prime NFC seeding, that depth — even after the latest claims — will be a big part of the story.
