Drake Maye kept things rolling on Monday night.
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye won’t get a chance to be labeled a system quarterback partially because head coach Mike Vrabel’s tenure in Foxborough is only getting started.
Vrabel simply calls him the “conductor” of the offense, and Maye fully embraces that. Maye symphonically picked apart the Giants‘ defense, embraces that label as the offense’s conductor. He has a completion rate of 71.5% for 3,412 yards and 23 touchdowns versus six interceptions this season.
“You want the ball in my hands,” Maye told reporters afterwards. “I tried to show that all year and throughout my career. That’s what I kind of feel like. I know they feed off of me and feed off of my energy and feed off of what I say to those guys.”
“And what I say means something to them. So when adversity hits, I’ve got to respond. And from there I’ve got to be the same guy, same guy every day. Don’t try to change, and just be myself. That’s what the guys like the most,” Maye added.
The second-year quarterback and former No. 3 draft pick from North Carolina has been the guy this season, and fans are showing it with MVP chants. Maye could easily be on track to become one of the game’s biggest stars, and that cause clearly left the station in Week 4 when the 10-game winning streak began.
Drake Maye Credits Offensive Line Play

While Maye took three sacks from the Giants pass rush, it didn’t impact the outcome as he helped the Patriots put away New York in the fourth quarter. Maye credited the backup offensive linemen who stepped up on his left side — left tackle Vederian Lowe and left guard Ben Brown.
“I told them I had full faith in them,” Maye said. “We had a lot of reps last year dropping back and trusting those guys. I think they’re great players, and they’ve stepped up, like I said, in pregame.”
“I think they stepped up all year, anybody thrown in the fire. Proud of them. Proud of them for working hard and learning this offense and staying on the same page and being on the same page all night and doing a great job tonight,” Maye added.
Drake Maye on Getting to the Bye Week 11-2
New England’s bye week has finally arrived, and Maye and company finished the way they wanted to, going into the off week with a victory at home.
“I think wanting to win before the bye, want to win every game,” Maye said. “Kind of don’t want to leave off on the bye on a bad foot, home, Monday night game. It was important for us to play on Monday night and show up for our fans, and it was a game that we didn’t want to take lightly. I think the guys did that, proud of the guys for that.”
“Bye week is huge. Felt like a long time coming, but we’re here, and we have some important football after the bye week,” Maye added. “We’re looking forward to staying and getting healthy, having guys that want to get better and get some guys back and make a push when football starts to count down the road.”
