Emily Blunt turned heads at the Venice Film Festival as she stunned fans with her high cheekbones and smooth skin – but plastic surgeons have since been speculating over which procedures she may have undergone.
The 42-year-old actress made the rounds whilst promoting her new film, The Smashing Machine, at the famous film festival – but the chatter surrounded her flawless, line-free face.
The Devil Wears Prada actress looked stunning in a baby blue Schiaparelli dress with a ruched waist and embellished shoulder straps, with her vibrant hair styled in an old-Hollywood curl.
However, fans were caught up by Blunt’s apparent new look, claiming she looks vastly different from her earlier red carpet appearances.
‘Why is she morphing into Cillian Murphy,’ a fan exclaimed, with others chiming in with their thoughts.
‘People have gone to wars for Cillian’s god given cheekbones,’ someone cheekily replied.
‘Am I tripping or does she look different? Not in a bad way. Just different,’ another chimed in.
‘Something’s happening to her face… Emily stop it right now! You look beautiful here but any more you’re going to start diminishing your obviously natural beauty,’ pleaded another.

One fan joked that the actress was ‘turning into’ Cillian Murphy (pictured in 2014)
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John Diaz said after looking at the photos that although he doesn’t believe Blunt has had plastic surgery, she could be doing doing a lot of ‘typical things’ women in her age group would be doing to preserve their age.
‘Obviously [I’ve] never treated her, but my speculation is she’s having, or receiving Botox treatments to reduce the lines, especially on the upper part of her face,’ he told the Daily Mail.
He added there is also ‘some suggestion’ she’s maintaining some of the volume of the middle of her face and the prominence of her cheekbones, with some ‘enhancement by fillers.’
However, he says overall the actress is aging ‘very well,’ and still looks ‘very natural.’
‘I don’t see any evidence of surgery,’ he shared. ‘I don’t think she’s had anything surgical done, or that I can tell.’
‘A lot of these images we’re seeing today, they’re extremely photoshopped on social media,’ he acknowledged. ‘It [looks] to me like a highly photoshopped photo, so I think it’s very important for us to recognize that nowadays, especially with celebrities.’
Dr. Joshua Korman, a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Korman Plastic Surgery, observed that based on photographs, Blunt previously had a ‘fuller face.’
‘I don’t have any first-hand knowledge [but] if you look at Emily Blunt’s pictures previously, she had a more a fuller face, and I think, overall, [she’s] lost a lot of weight,’ he theorized. ‘I think that has had an impact on her face, so it almost seems like a reaction to that.’
However, he noted there are some differences seen in images taken over the years.
‘The lower part of her cheeks are more hollow, so maybe she’s had Botox in the masseter muscles [a large, quadrangular muscle located in the lower part of the face],’ he explained.

‘She has certainly a lot more volume up in the high cheek area, which may be the result of certain kinds of fillers, and or she may have had a kind of mid-face lift where you make the incision in the temples, and then endoscopically pull up,’ he shared.
He added that ‘hair and makeup’ do a lot in that photo.
‘It looks like – at least from the photo – she’s done a lot to make sure that her skin, texture and pigmentation is as smooth as possible,’ he pointed out.
Dr. Korman said she may have had Moxi or an IPL laser therapy to smooth her skin and improve the quality of her skin tone.
In photos of the star on the red carpet last year, Blunt appeared to have softer features, with her cheeks less prominent in comparison to her appearance at the Venice Film Festival.
The Smashing Machine is a biopic following the life of former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr, played by Dwayne, alongside Blunt as Kerr’s then-wife Dawn Staples an Arizona-based recovering alcoholic who wed Mark in Las Vegas.
